It's got a good vibe, addicting gameplay, and a storyline. So worth your time for the money you're spending. I can recommend this game.

Starting:
Is rough. Really rough. Mostly just learning how things work in the game. This is an early access game. As such, you should know this is not feature complete.

Building: Is a really robust system. However, I expect that not all building options are yet available in the game. As you're limited to sticks, stone, and stucco. There are some pieces that could be added.

Fighting: Fighting has been mentioned by the devs to not be their desired end currently. Changes will be made and I look forward to seeing what those are.

Crafting: Crafting is VERY demanding. Both in your time, and your patience. It's also a required part of the gameplay experience since exactly ZERO gear drops from enemies at all. Get your face caved in fighting a carver with a sword? No sword drops. Fight a spell caster that has a staff? No staff. No robe, no gear, period. You will make HUNDREDS on Hundreds of spears leveling up weapon smithing. But you can't do anything with them YET... To that end, they do plan to have a recycling system where you can recoup some of the materials used in crafting and hopefully make this a little less tedious in the future.

Spells: You only get access to spells by killing named, looting an item that unlocks a recipe that lets you craft an item that may have a spell on it. See more in durability of items.

Durability of items: Items have both a durability and a lifetime. When you repair an item it loses lifetime, eventually becoming unusable. Due to the number of items you craft to level up it's typically not an issue. However, when you craft special items crafted from materials looted from a named mob....well, now when it breaks you have to go hunt down that same named mob again so you can replace it. With that said, the durability of weapons and shields is really my main concern. As the armor durability and lifetime seems to last much longer.

Travel: On foot. That's your only option. The maps (plural) are MAASSSIIIVVVEEE...which would be great except all travel is on foot. I traveled from the top of Ancein to the bottom and it took about 25 minutes if I just traveled at a reasonable speed while avoiding monsters that no doubt would murder me on accident. With that all said, they do have plans to implement mounts. At the time of writing this they have already suggested that it is currently in the works.

Bugs: Lots of these. It's an alpha. Food staying on the food bar but not active. The timer for food disappearing when it is active. Loading areas will put your health back to base (going from 200+ health to 100 health simply because you walked through a loading area (loads in background, no loading screen). A cave where you walk across one of these "loading lines" where there was no creatures and when it does load you're being attacked by a 5 pack of wolves. You die, and can't summon your corpse from 2 ft away outside of the loading area. Randomly can't see friends in party on the map. Players in party/clan right in front of you don't show nametag/health. You're holding the block button but the player isn't blocking. Respawn stones was "closer" so when you die it puts you a 10 minute run from where you were instead of the 2 minute run because radially closer and not navigationally. Etc. The list goes on. But hey, this is an alpha. We'll have to wait and see if they will start addressing any of this soon.

Patches: They have been fairly consistent about addressing major issues. With very little content additions at this point. But up to this point it's been mostly addressing player feedback and crashes. But they are still working in the background on content to add to the game.

Played on - Dedicated server with friends. PVE

Starting out it's a bit of a different game from what I was expecting. But it's great all the same.
I'm only just getting started and there is so much more to the game than I've encountered.
Some things are something you need to wrap your head around.
One of the first things is you are not the player. You are the mask. Your characters skills max at level 50, all of them. However you can capture a tribe member who can go 120 or higher in some skills. Your character is just there so you always have a mask wearer to play in the event you tribe member dies.

As of now one of my favorite features is the ability to dump your belongings into a box..but also filter the box so it only accepts certain items. Making organization a breeze. This feature is absolutely MINT!

Currently we're up to smelting metals. Awareness Strength around 25. We have about 40 NPC tribemembers! All are actively doing things for us. Everything from cutting trees and harvesting plants, to tending our farms and animal pens. Leaving you to explore, fight, and progress!

The only thing I don't recommend doing is not playing this game!

This game from Far From Home was a fantastic addition to my library. I'm looking forward to the days of multi-player to help with some of the farming and expansion of the airship as well as farming, new creatures, and locations. The story up to this point was pretty good, and the fact that you weren't stuck on the airship the entire time was fantastic. Everything feels really cramped at first (Like Raft) and there are parts where oxygen is a concern (Subnautica) and a bit of building to be done to expand enough to fit all the components in. But you can build up your ship and just do that if that is your jam.

So this is an early access game. I was looking forward to checking it out. However I'm in an Endless loop, unable to progress even into the first mission. Getting stuck in the combat "tutorial" where it wants me to test my Pursuit mode. Then it never acknowledges that the Pursuit mode is functioning, if I destroy the ship I am following, it tells me not to just kill them and that I should instead use pursuit mode, which I was doing when I destroyed them.

Additionally, I have two VKB Gladiator NXT Evos, and I have bound keys to use the HOSAS setup however various keys just do not function. One such key is the Flare keybind, another key is the target lock keybind. They both function correctly when using the KBM, the game acknowledges that the keys themselves work when you are in the input menu and press the keys. They just fail to do anything in the game itself.

I would like to get a more in depth review, however due to the issues of getting stuck unable to progress at the pursuit mode stage, I cannot go into any more depth, as there was none for me to try.

I have submitted bug reports for all issues that I have encountered while attempting to play the game. Including a suggestion to extend the allowable length of the character name beyond 10 characters. As you might imagine, "ChatWithThisName" does not fit in that slot. This is a single player game, and I see no real reason to give an arbitrary limitation of 10 characters.

excessively hard, etc.
Example. 97 food in storage, 42 to keep the sector eating, but they won't move the food from storage to where it gets eaten.
Example. You have stuff in hangar that needs to be moved out of hangar so you can put more stuff in it. But since you don't have a storage for it you can't. Doesn't matter that you have consumers waiting for that item. Nope, won't take them from hangar and put them in the consumes. First it has to go to storage and then it can go where it's needed. LITERALLY needs to go to the storage. The same bot will run it all the way across the sector to put it in storage, then take it right back out and bring it to the consumer.
Wasted my money. Don't waste yours.
