DS4 controller for PC is already buggy, use InputMapper or DS4Windows for input configurations or just use an intended input device.
As for the price, while shipping cost is high, that's due to the fact that the Steam Link on sale is 90% off at $4.99 at of today. The shipping comes out to about $7-8 dollars, which is around $13 dollars total.
The full price of the Steam Link is $49.99 on Steam, and Amazon at $31 dollars.
You still save at least $18+ by purchasing the product on sale. This is why shipping cost is high, selling this product for 5 dollars with low shipping is too much of a steal when the price is already good.
I'm not gonna comment on your experience with the product as I don't know the specifics, but these are some reasonings for price point and DS4 support
