Convoluted and boring story, questionable quest/game design, boring traversal, inconsistent pacing, poor performance, and bugs are just a few issues that plague Dragon's Dogma 2.

It's really frustrating to say that the bad parts of this game really soured my whole experience with it, because the game has moments that really excel and bring new/nteresting ideas to fantasy RPGs.

An incredibly faithful remake and homage to the first real third person survival horror game. The majority of the original story and gameplay content remains here, though there are some exceptions such as the Mercenaries mode and Separate Ways, which are supposedly planned as upcoming DLCs. I loved this game, aside from the near constant crashing in my experience.

Writing this just after finishing my second playthrough and unlocking all achievements. Yes, it's good but you already knew that. The game is huge and there is little chance you could see/do everything in a single playthrough without following a guide. What nobody wants to talk about however, is the absolute slog of a final act. Late/post-game areas feel like a chore to try and get through due to the massive spike in difficulty towards the end. The transitions between these areas are often clumsy and jarring leaving the player confused as to where they are or what they are doing there.
The games final few bosses are difficult, sometimes just straight up unfair. The final boss is terrible, constantly running away from you and launching out flurries of attacks that seem almost undodgeable. After you beat this disappointing boss you're met with 6 lacklustre endings that offer no exploration of the state of the world based upon your respective choices. Not to mention these aren't really 6 unique endings, there are actually 3 endings and 3 separate variations upon the default ending.

This game is amazing and is a serious Game of the Year contender, despite the fact it falls flat on its face in its climax. Would still recommend.

Really buggy at the moment, can't recommend in its current state and price. Nothing game breaking so far, but quite immersion breaking stuff. Definitely has the potential to be great with a lot of patches.

EDIT 22.09.24: A lot of work has been put into making this worth a playthrough. There are still plenty of issues and the core gameplay itself isn't all that great. Very good looking game though and amazing implementation of RTX. 7/10 base game, DLC bumps it up to an 8.5/10.

A little bit short for the price but still an okay game. Some of the puzzles are a little questionable however, as it is isn't clear enough what you can and can't interact with in some sections - mainly the Church section.
