The game has a pretty tight core gameplay loop. Fish in the morning, Fish in the evening, then cook sushi at night. This loop is masterfully broken up with all sorts of minigames, from stealth, to rhythm, to horse racing.

I bought this expecting a 10-13 hour game, and ended up with about 40 hours of main content, with another 48 of postgame completion-oriented stuff; collecting the full "marinca" catalog of all the fish and getting all Achievements. I don't think anyone should try to get all achievements, it was a grind and the payoff isn't quite there. Overall, Great game for the money. 10/10 would buy again.

Early Access Review
A conveyor belt of dopamine.

Before I played, I was worried that, with all the features like space belts and platforms and trains and fluids that the core gameplay loop that made Shapez addictive was so full of junk that the game would be no fun. Fear not! The game has eaten 22 hours of my life so far, and does not look to stop any time soon. 4 A+'s stacked on top of each other.

Fun game and atmosphere, if you go in with the right expectations it's quite good. Just chill out and have fun.

Haven't played for a couple years (Forsaken). Hoo-boy this game punishes you for not playing. They've raised the light level by about 500 since I played (which takes ~25 hours to get to approximately cap), and gated all the new content on a higher (900-1200) light level, so I don't get to play any of that until I've paid my weekly bounty taxes for like 20 hours.

Buy a shooter that lets you play the game when you've bought it, don't bother with this one.

Great combat, like a mix of Baldur's Gate and XCom.

Great game. Movement around the map and around enemies feels great because most of the abilities and power-ups are based on movement. Ori feels very fluid and the air control and multiple jump systems feel pretty great.

Given all this, a few things feel out of place; the grenade throwing added in the definitive edition seems weird given the tone of the game, and the use of it to boost jump is replaced shortly after unlocking it with the charge jump. The use of the feather to float also breaks the style of movement introduced throughout the game, which was a very elegant, rhythmic jumping pattern which feels very much like the early N games.

Great metroidvania game that sets itself apart from most others I've played, de-emphasizing weapons and emphasizing movement gives the game a great tone and feel. A+ would buy again.
