I could go on on about the various faults Virginia has, but at its core it is a game that is constantly at battle with itself both mechanically and narratively from beginning to end. The only real positives are the excellent soundtrack, and simple, but strong visuals. Characters are minimal in their design, but manage to evoke a great deal of emotion.

Gone home and Firewatch for example, are games that follow similar formulas and deliver, where as Virginia is an absolute mess that struggles with its own existence.
