Beware:

Some "thoughtful chap" informed me (complete with several convenient "screen captures"), that my account was linked to several thousands of dollars in fraud purchases from them, for a game I've never owned or played.

They claimed to have had their friends mass report my account over 100 times. They also wanted screen shots of a private area of my account.

When I refused and gave valid reasons why all of this was impossible, they were suddenly "sorry", informing me I "must be getting impersonated", but they needed my help because they could not reverse the mass reporting.

I told them I will handle it my own way, and wait for official message from Steam regarding this matter.

They would not drop it, so I unfriended, blocked and reported their account to Steam.

Just for general community information, I thought I would share Steams official stance. They do not automatically ban or suspend accounts, based on account reports submitted.

I don't believe this bozo reported my account in the first place.

Just for general information:

This is my only Steam account. I customarily never make large purchases. I only fund this account with prepaid Steam cards. The running balance of this accounts Steam wallet, is rarely above ten dollars. I only fund this account, when I intend to make an immediate purchase. This account is protected by double device authentication.

I am not in the habit of giving out any of my private information, least of all to people I don't even know.

Keep your guard up and stay safe out there. Scumbags scurry and abound.
