Only two hours in i had one little sound crash (its why i stopped playing to come here and see if there was a fix) the character creation is pretty adorable, the customisation options are nice being able to create a completely unique furry antagonist. the art styling is fresh and the colour choices are totally well thought out.

The world feels large right now (i'm sure with a mount it will feel a lot smaller, but that is supposition.) and the environments are lovely to behold, love the little touches of trash piles and old world crap dotted around the fresh verdant green foresty place you start in. overall i would say the visuals are different enough to be polarising but personally i love them.

So far i have found the combat a little wonky (the "lock on" mechanic is a bit floaty and feels like a lot of guesswork) and the melee is low impact but quite satisfying. i styled my furry friend as a psi/samurai and started off with an intellect build which has made the melee combat harder i'm pretty sure as i only have some electric knuckle dusters right now so maybe that's why it feels low impact.

Playing with a xbone pad feels right and i've had no trouble with anything control related, everything has so far been smooth and buttery (apart from my sound crash, i think it had something to do with a USB device being pulled which locked it up)

The music is very eastern inspired and fairly repetitive but it does a good job of setting the mood. the sound effects are well done and i have no complaints there i also love the little comic book words that pop up from time to time when you shoot someone or throw a giant electric ball at something :)
the narrator is truly next level. remember that time when you first played Bastion? yeah its like that. he also gives all of the voice delivery for each character in the game which is an odd design choice but it works well enough, lucky the guy has a great speaking voice, though i can see why this would annoy some people for sure. for me it gives continuity and binds everything together in a way multiple actors couldn't do.

Overall i would heartily recommend this game if you like open world action games. yes the price is pretty steep for a point of entry but i've not played anything as exciting as this in a long time and look forward to learning the excellent looking crafting system and finding out a bit more about the world and its denizens

8/10
