Cyberpunk launched in a rough state. It was full of bugs and badly designed systems, but even then, the story, characters, and city were beautifully fun to experience. A masterpiece was buried somewhere in here. WIth the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty expansion, it is now, three years later, at the state where it should’ve launched at. Core systems have been completely overhauled. The entire skill tree system, crafting, armor, weapons, etc have all been replaced with more sensible implementations that are not only better suited for more engaging gameplay, but also fit better with the lore of the world. It’s an entirely different game and I applaud the commitment to improving the game over the years. Phantom Liberty’s gameplay and story additions are great too. It not only provides one of the most heartbreaking moments I’ve experienced in recent memory in video games, it also provides some of the best gameplay in the game. The visual quality achievable in this game is fantastic too. No game comes close to this level of fidelity and I don’t see any game challenging it on the horizon. It’s a fantastic game.
