its really fu**king good. the story is actually interesting with game play that is challenging and really requires your last few brain cells to work together to stop you from hitting your head against a wall when you died for the 10th time on normal, but it never feels impossible. the "boss fights" are always intense with each having a gimmick that is always challenging causing you to rethink your strategy. Getting better the more you play is also as rewarding as beating the level you just spent a considerable amount of time on, the way the game teaches you "techniques" feels so much better than being gifted a broken power up making you feel like you deserve beating a level. I wrote this after finishing my first run but it has more endings so there is still more for me to enjoy. if your still on the fence i highly recommend playing Catherine.
