it gets repetitive as hell with the constant repeated track themes but it's a pretty damn solid racing game

transformed clears however

barely functional video game in its current state but once you mod the hell out of it it's great!

Early Access Review
Genuinely quite the great game, for early access. Most negative reviews I see are about the performance (which like, it has some low points in framerate on every system, and it certainly could use some optimization, but if you're consistently getting low FPS that's probably just your system, and you can just refund it and wait for optimizations. Your PC specs are not the game's fault) which has only dipped about as much as I'd expect for a game in beta.

That said, the progression feels incredibly good, one of the best roguelite implementations I've ever seen, making progression feel satisfying but never making you feel overpowered, and still feeling possible to win at the start of the game.

The only significant part I have an issue with is the boss design. given it's trying to give you an intricate Dark Souls esque boss to fight with strict parry timing and then also throwing in a bunch of random mob encounters. It just feels unfair to lose a large portion of HP from a random dog spawning and biting me off-screen while I'm trying to counter the boss's attacks, sorry.

That said, the exploration is really fun and feels fresh on every new world, and the combat feels a little sluggish, but once you get used to it, it's really engaging and fun to master. I'd say this is well worth your time if you're a fan of roguelites and open world games, even if it's not something I can see dedicated Hyper Light Drifter fans enjoying all that much. It's a very different game, and I like it for that.

Incredibly good game, feels very inspired by Wario Land without ever stepping into unoriginality territory, and just a consistently awesome experience all around
