From heatblur simulations comes the AJS-37 Viggen, (near) perfectly implemented in DCS world. A swedish cold war jetfighter said to be a dangerous adversary in the theatre of war during the 80's, a next gen multirole fighter upgraded to take out ships with it's advanced air to ground/sea radar, destroy sam sites with unguided and guided precision. Obliterate airfields or hold off invasions by a far superior enemy with it's more than capable (some now illigal) munitions like the mjolnir gliding clusterbomb.

Beautifully crafted with immersive sounds and lights, escpecially in VR you'll find yourselves lost in it's enviroment. From the green tint from the radar glowing ambiently around the cockpit, the bangs that occour during compressor-stalls and the deep growl from the engine when cranking it on to full "3" afterburner (arselbrennare) while listening to the slight "tick" sound from the throttle reminding you what position it's in. It also comes with a "tapeplayer" for playing that awesome retro theme song that'll remind you of an old lamborghini ad.

After flying some of the newbie friendly flaming cliff 3 aircrafts, this was a rather steep transition. It's fairly easy to learn once you have mastered the basics, especially of you know some of the scandinavian languages, since all the instruments are labeled in swedish for autenticity. But fear not! There's also tons of awesome youtube videos that you can watch in order to start mastering this bird, as well as a few ingame fully voiceover tutorials with click-cues. And I'm pretty sure it'll get english cockpit soon?

Just like the russian aircrafts are labeled in russian doesn't mean you'll struggle to learn it if can't read Cyrillic. You'll have a hefty manual on your hands, plus some compressed versions of it on the DCS websides made by the community with basic and advanced tutorials for your reference as well as HOTAS setups.

One thing that might put you off is the way this plane's designed around waypoints. You have to manually enter waypoints/coordinates to be able to deliver ordinance in a proper and precise way. DCS world is just a little bit wobbly in this area, hence it requires some manual work to find the coordinates you want (F10 map function or draw the waypints in mission editor). In multiplayer this becomes a hassle.

And that's my only drawback with this module . If the creators would make a third party module implemented within the AJS Viggen that allows you to quicly draw up or plan custom mission waypoints, especially in multiplayer based on JTAC functions on the fly, it would get a 10/10 from me. I know the community made somewhat of a tool for this, but it requires you to get the mission data from a server, close DCS and draw the waypoints, implement them in the aircraft, then load up DCS again and fly. It takes quite a long time.
But, if you master this function, you'll be able to deliver deadly packages to targets while flying at mach 0.9 , 10 meters above the treetops, in any weather! And it's properly rewarding managing to do this.

(Edit 20/5-2020: You can now place custom map markers on the F10 map and load a custom carthridge for waypoints. Thanks Heatblur!)

Note it's not designed to do much air to air combat, but more of a "release ordinance on ground/ship targets and haul ass back to base type of plane", mainly due to it's awesome speed. But it can indeed carry a selection of A2A missiles.

Overall I'm thoroughly loving this module. However, if you want to maximize the performance of this aircraft i would without a doubt recommend a good HOTAS and VR/TrackIR or some other head/eyetracking hardware.
If you have a HOTAS I'd recommend a second joystick as well for the radar for full immerson. This is not required, but it feels natural the way the cockpit is layed out.

Score: 9/10.
Absolutely worth it's price as well. They worked hard on this one ;)
