Like all other Dragon Age titles this one is another stylistic departure. There are moments where it can be dark but the overall tone and feel is lighter so far - at least 5 hours in [1.5~ spent in char creation, est 60hr gametime total to 100%.] I don't mind it but do prefer a grittier tone myself.
Environmentally the game is gorgeous and runs well on my 3080 + 5600x ~100+ fps on max settings.
The slight 'painterly' effect on the skin of characters is great but only sticks out up close, otherwise at a distance, through video footage or low compressed images, it can look sort of plastic-y and smooth. I was able to make a good looking Qunari woman much to my surprise. Advertised footage would have you think otherwise.
Animations as a whole are fine while there are some spots that are a little rough, but I really don't care. It's not enough to pull me out of it.
Combat is quite fun and even though there are only 3 skill slots and an ultimate, you have tons of combos and companion synergy you can do, and it can be a lot more in-depth than the first few hours lead you to believe. The Skill tree is massive and there are specializations later in. Mage has a slower start than rogue or warrior, keep that in mind.
You can re-customize your character at any point, and you can refund your skill points at any point if you want to re-spec and try new things.
I'm still only in the beginning and I started with a notch above normal difficulty. If you are a DA2 vet, an action rpg vet, etc, I recommend this for you. You can change it at any point.

Go ahead, type 'fart.'
You'll thank me later.

In all seriousness, what a unique and great game. The core gameplay loop is refreshing and the environments are fun to explore. The cryptmaster himself is incredibly charming and the art direction is very distinct!

10/10 I love piloting 4 corpses to eat bugs straight off the wall and skulk around in corners.

A culmination of From Software's talent wrapped up in one addictive experience. Performance issues aside, this is easily one of my top favorite games of all time.

A great mmo even for those who don't like most mmo's [like me.] I play almost entirely solo and it's still a lot of fun as a very casual player.

If only Pokemon took pointers from this series. I fully wish MHStories would take over the collect em all market.

Outward feels like a love letter to older RPGs. I have the same sense of wanderlust with this game as I did with Oblivion, Might & Magic, Dark Souls, and more. Starting out is a little clunky, and it took me a few hours to adjust in to the mechanics, but overall the game is scratching that itch of having a giant open world you can just stumble around in endlessly with very little to hold you back.
