Skyrim was an iconic experience back in the day and it still is, being extremely easy to get into and to understand. There are some flaws however. The base game does feel a bit dated, and I believe it is not worth the full price. I had played vanilla on ps3 and recently bought SE, and not much has changed. The combat system is also quite mediocre and too simple. I could go on about the many downsides of this game however I believe we need to look at the whole picture, how Skyrim ties everything together. The best part about this game is that every aspect flows into the next, constructing a grand adventure and a world which you feel like you've lived in. Some parts are clunky sure, the graphics are dated, however the visuals and atmosphere still feel incredible with jaw-dropping views and iconic moments. The story isn't bad but isn't impressive, that being said there is a lot of creativity and effort put in some aspects such as the dragon tongue, the nordic history, the compelling political warfare, e.t.c. In the game there isn't much presented but there are a lot of things to think about and to reflect on. The boring combat can be improved on by trying out more playstyles such as sneak archer or spell sword (my personal favourite), but it is difficult to change playstyles without starting a new character. That being said, Skyrim has great replay value and you might discover something new every time. Everything I've talked about can be greatly enhanced by mods. In fact, I HIGHLY recommend using mods. The visuals, the combat, npcs, ui, map, game systems, weather, e.t.c can all be greatly improved. Skyrim can be turned into something made yesterday, a cluster♥♥♥♥ of nightmarish mods or a different game entirely. Modding is easy and there are great tutorials and modlists online. To conclude, Skyrim is dated and has its flaws, but it is still an essential experience which can be enhanced by mods and trying out different things.

Celeste presents itself as a stylistic platformer, but really it goes deeper than that with a compelling story that lets you overcome a physical and emotional mountain with Madeline. It addresses issues such as self-doubt, anxiety, the loss of hope, e.t.c. The gameplay is fun and fluid, and the B-sides provide ample challenge. The alternative sides teach you even more mechanics therefore allowing you to speedrun through the base game even faster. Despite me only beating it after around 2000 deaths, it never felt unfair or frustrating. The game wants you to win and provides encouragement and moments of relief throughout the story and levels. Because of the narrative, beating the game truly feels like an accomplishment, like some life-long goal you just finished.

This is probably the best game I've ever played, and is the closest thing to perfection we can get. The story and visuals compliment the atmosphere, and it really brings the world to life. The combat feels a bit lackluster on lower difficulties but it's fine on deathmarch. I'd recommend an alchemy build rather than signs for the most potential/fun, and to truly feel like a witcher. What I like about the story is how it positions you to not be the heroic, badass main character but rather just a another struggler in this dying world, trying to protect something you love. It feels very personal and gives the player more challenges to overcome.
