Make no mistake, the game is still pretty rough around the edges and not exactly what you would call user-friendly but to be fair, it is clearly stated to still be an alpha.

That beeing said, it also does a lot of things really well and I can't help but be impressed by what the engine is capable of.

No the game doesn't hold your hand in many regards and personally, I love that. It is one of those games where you're allowed to make mistakes and preparation goes a long way.

This DLC is in such a terrible state that I'm even changing my review of the base game to negative, just to make sure they get the message.

After all, if the bugs in this DLC are severe enough to cause me to loose stuff from the base game, then they deserve no better.

It's a shame since it could've been really good if only they put a little bit of effort into actually testing the damn thing before release.

This is hands down the best DLC ArmA3 has to offer.
Almost turns it into a whole new game and the quality of both the assets and the map are amazing.

Just like with global mobilization, it's nice to play ArmA without all the modern equipment and bodyarmor. Feels more like the good old OFP times. If you like the vietnam setting, I'd say you can't go wrong with it.

Flightmodel and gameplay is rather simple but it is a pretty well-made VR game and the controls worked flawlessly for me. So if you're just looking for some fun and easy to learn dogfighting in VR, give it a go. (just don't expect it to be an actual flightsim)

Frankly, there is no reason not to at least try out the excellent demo that they have available. The download is less than 200mb and it lets you try out everything there is to do in the game (including multiplayer)

Don't be fooled by the seemingly cheap graphics, it all plays together quite well and has a lot of atmosphere.

The gameplay seems simple at first but quickly turns out to be surprisingly complex and has good attention to detail. I particularly enjoy the building system in this one.

I haven't progressed very far into the game yet but it has a certain kind of charme to it and I can't wait to see more.

I tried to like it, I really did.

The terrible UI in combination with the badly optimized engine are still enough to put me off. There are more issues with it but I just don't feel like investing the time to write about them.

Rather decent DLC overall, with some downsides.

I feel like a lot more could've been done with the exhaust block and I especially don't like that the emitted particles magically stick to the block no matter how it moves.

What really annoys me though is that many of the new blocks are only available for small vehicles, even ones that would easily work for large vehicles aswell. The barred windows for example, or the offset light/spotlights.


Sooooo yeah I'm a bit on the fence.... I'll make this negative for now, hoping that they get the message and add those missing block variants and features.

Pretty good tactical shooter. Somewhat similar to good old swat 4, just not fully there yet. It plays well and can be quite challenging in coop. Only issue i have there is that some things are not very logical. Suspects can surrender and you have to cuff them and pick up their guns to get full score but it doesn't have any consequences for gameplay if you don't.
Once a suspect has surrendered he is no longer a threat to you even if theres a weapon lying right next to him and you didn't handcuff him.
Also, while you have to secure all weapons dropped by suspects, you can't pick up pre-placed weapons that are part of the map-decoration.

I guess they will correct these things at some point. Till then its still a pretty good tactical shooter if you're able to ignore a few quirks.

Besides, the game is dirt cheap so its kinda hard to not get your moneys worth out of it....

4 Years later... instead of fixing the issues mentioned last time, they introduced new ones. There are some really weird design decisions all over the place that make you question your own sanity (stupid things like limited equipment time even when you're playing solo).

The game could've been good and most of the things would even be rather easy to fix but I have lost faith at this point.

Part of me really wants to like the game and it certainly has a lot going for it but it just feels too awkward and clunky.

The issue is a mixture of small bugs, bad ui design and controls that just feel a tiny bit too unresponsive. Some of these small things even have a tendeny of getting you killed. Terrain can be rather glitchy to navigate... things that look like you can jump or climb over them often don't allow you to. A wrong step close to a river means you fall to the bottom of the water and drown.

Sure, the game looks impressive but right now if I compare it to post scriptum (which certainly looks worse), I'd much rather play that cause their gameplay mechanics and the UI are solid.

So yeah, can't really recommend it until these things improve.
