This game is honestly how I imagine a real Role-playing game.

You are a part of this world just as much as any AI you interact with, even when you're very strong there is always considerable strength in numbers. Having help by your side is essential, the wastelands are full of patrol and raiding parties. If you're brave enough the ruins reward the most useful treasure, typically science books, to get a technological edge over your foes. Research takes lots of time which is not something very easy to deal with in the wasteland, building a proper shelter with your own safezone, and access to resources is the only way you'll have a chance to survive and thrive in the world of Kenshi.

You can play from any angle in this game with the starter character options, but I recommend wanderer for your first try. The world changes at your will, how you interact with different nations and leaders will impact the land around you. You get to pick anyone you want on your team, and can send them anywhere across the map as an independent unit, or as a group; you can have multiple groups and a very fair amount of people on your team before mods...

This game is very easy to mod or customise the game-play to your liking, I recommend taking a look at the workshop and find some quality of life mods and down-scaling terrain resolution mods (unless you're playing in 4k), as it will save you a lot of time and possible crashes. Not that it's a typical issue, but sometimes it can get hectic with 150+ warriors being managed!!

I wish you luck, traveller, avoid the Oni.
