this is the best warhammer game ever made. without the bugs, it would be game of the year, if not game of the decade.
gunplay is magnificent. the story is better than space marine 1. the difficulty is high, but the rewards are great,.
the audio, graphics, and gameplay are amazing.
my only gripes are the camera bugs, but that's it.
this is what it means to be a space marine.

This is the second best DLC fromsoft has ever made, but it's held back by the absolute fustercluck that is the final boss. Absolutely beautiful, new items are both useful and interesting. All the remembrance bosses are amazing except the aforementioned final boss, with my personal standouts being midra and messmer. There's some bad performance issues where framerate drops and the lighting acts weird, but it's much better than base elden ring was on release. Music is some of the best it's ever been.

Love everything about this game. I used to play a lot of World of Warcraft and FFXIV, as well as every souls game and Elden Ring. This game manages to combine the MMO feel of these games with the difficulty of a souls game at times. Unlike the souls games, you get a slap on the wrist for failure, and can just try again quickly. This makes every monster a practice in trial and error, to the point where it feels like you're dancing with them.

Every mission is unique in a way that makes the grind feel refreshing. Maybe this time you'll see a turf war between a monke and a t-rex. Maybe this time you'll get that firecell stone or novacrystal you've been missing. Maybe this time you'll fight a monster in a completely different biome than usual. Maybe this time you'll get that DAMN chaos emerald you've been grinding for the last few hours. Maybe this time you'll sever the tail. The gameplay loop is beautiful, and always keeps you coming back for more. There's always more materials you need, and there's always new experiences to be had.

The base story actually made me tear up near the end. Everything in the world feels hopeful, and captures the feeling of noblebright while not feeling cheesy. You're not on a quest to kill the big bad guy, just to act as a deterrent against monsters who, if left unchecked, would cause havoc and death. This isn't a story about good triumphing over evil, it's about humanity protecting the world from invasive species and monsters that need to be checked. The stakes are high, but it never feels hopeless.

The music, good god the music. The rotten vale battle theme will probably get me through a physical fitness test I'll need to take soon. From teostra and the elder's recess to the big monke and raging brachydios, monsters each have thematically appropriate and menacing music to make everything feel like a boss fight.

The graphics are pretty good, especially for 2018. My only complaint there is that certain monsters' abilities can blend in with the environment and make dodging and evading more difficult. Looking at you, iceborne. Combat has an incredible level of variety, with 12 weapons to choose from that each have completely different playstyles. Each one has a niche in both solo and multiplayer hunts, from supporting your comrades with the bowguns or being an agile fighter with dual blades or the insect glave, to being a one man wrecking machine with a hammer or greatsword. The depth increases replayability even more.

My biggest complaint is the subspecies, with a few exceptions. It's just the same monster with entirely different materials to pad out the grind while not feeling like you're just fighting the same monster again. It could be worse, but I don't like all the variations of rathalos or rathian, nor the jyuratodus variants. The exceptions are, unfortunately, near the end of the DLC.

9/10, made me love gaming again. I'm a police officer in training so I don't have a ton of time to play outside of the weekend, but I can just pound out a few hours responding to SOS flares or grinding for another piece of gear. Get the DLC too, it changes the game and adds probably another 400 hours of playtime to it. Also try and find a workaround for the garbage DRM they're trying to force.
