Were you bullied in school? Are you the unwanted child? Did your siblings beat you and got away with it? Did someone steal your favorite pokémon card? Do you return to your drug dealer for another hit every two days? Does your significant other beat you but you still love them?

If you answered yes to any of these, this is the game for you.

Dwarf Fortress is a deep and immersive sim in which you try your hardest to build up a fortress, and yes I'm specifically not mentioning Adventure Mode (Which isn't even implemented in the steam version atm) because the madmen that play that are powerful beyond my comprehension.

You might compare this to games like Rimworld and to a point you'd be correct, but in Dwarf Fortress, the fish can stand up, you can bite a metal colossus to death with your bare teeth and race wars can start in your fortress because some idiot couldn't handle their mushroom wine. (Thanks Sseth)

Losing is !FUN! is the motto of this game because you will at one point face something that you are completely unprepared for.. Random invasions, every corpse on the map just coming back to choke you to death or Armok-forbid a Forgotten Beast that just stumbles into your fortress from behind that passage you just opened.. And one Miner doesn't satisfy it's hunger.

I've played this game on and off for many years and even though the game had quite the tough learning curve, the Steam release makes it very simple to play, if you've played other colony sims, you know how the controls work, no more pressing three different hotkeys to make every little thing in the game, from workshops to walls to traps to bridges. Now it's all a simple click to select what you want and drag or paint whatever you want mined or built.

My recommendation? 9/10 play it for yourself because if you're single and you love being abused, this game will fill that gaping void.
