The concept of Webfishing is refreshingly simple. You start on an island brimming with ponds, streams, and a scenic oceanfront. Playing as a customizable little cat or dog, you can explore, fish, and hang out with friends.

What really charmed me were the small details that made the game even more delightful and created memorable moments with my friends. For instance, the creatures you catch are scaled to their actual size, meaning large fish hilariously overshadow the tiny, adorable player characters. I couldn’t help but smile as my friend and I stood together, proudly showing off our first big catches. Customizing our characters and showing them off added another layer of fun.

It’s worth mentioning that the game also serves as an online chatroom where you can play with strangers. While I spent some time playing solo, it still brought back nostalgic vibes, reminiscent of hanging out in Club Penguin.

The gameplay is laid-back, with short breaks as you wait for fish to bite, and reeling them in is a chill experience. Some rare catches demand a bit more focus, but once you upgrade your rod, the game remains relaxed. This combination of easygoing gameplay and social interaction makes Webfishing the perfect game to unwind and catch up with friends.

Solid 8/10 - would fish again

The story content is where the game really shines, especially the first 3 chapters (the original base game) for each of the 8 available classes. Each one has it's own class story with quests and story content specific to that class. These stories take you through a lot of the planets (many more to explore via expansions or flashpoints), each of which have their own planetary story with a main story line and a bunch of optional side quests that are common to all of the classes of the same faction, but are different for Republic / Empire. Lots of replayability.

It is an MMO, so some of the content was originally group content only, but they have since added a "story mode" version of those so people can play them solo if they want.

The expansion content is worth playing through once at least.

In terms of the actual gameplay, it is basically World of Warcraft with a Star Wars skin, but SWTOR is MUCH more story driven than WoW.

I've played off and on since shortly after launch (didnt download on steam until last year had it installed via the original SWTOR Launcher), and still go back, re-subscribe, and roll new characters just to play the stories again from time-to-time.

The class stories are peak Star Wars. 8 stories that include (no spoilers):

The “Anakin” Jedi badass of the order (Jedi Knight) The force Jedi that learns force secrets that can be used for the order and against the Sith Empire (Jedi Consular) Delta Force of Republic (Trooper) Republic Privateer, lying scoundrel, whatever has the most credits involved 😉(smuggler)

The Dark Vader walking sith tank (Sith Warrior) The power growing, position obtaining manipulative Sith (Sith Inquisitor) The bounty seeking, glory hunting man of the empire, oh and who works a lot with the Mandalorians wink wink (Bounty Hunter) Imperial James Bond with a license to kill(Imperial Agent)

Those were very vague because I really don’t want to spoil anything but trust me for a free game the base stories are 100% worth it.

The Agent has a pretty unanimous spot as the best story, and after that its a lot of personal opinion. Some don’t like the trooper because it’s very operator “This is the mission” but I loved it.

Overall as an MMO I would give the rating a 8/10
As a Star Wars game I would give the rating a 9.5/10

Little bit of background; I'm not generally an MMO player and have far more interest in single player RPG's and such. However, I have played Swtor for 10+ years so with the recent hard times hitting that game, I was looking for that fix and decided to give ESO another go. I tried the game a while ago back around the time that the Morrowind chapter was released but I never got into it due to not really understanding the game and it being so different from Swtor. This time however I went in with some friends who helped me get into the game and show me the mechanics I originally had missed out on when first trying the game.

I love this game. Yet there are many things I dislike about the game that I really think detract from the experience for me.

Storytelling is for the most part phenomenal and in many ways feels like your more traditional Elder Scrolls titles. There are plenty of engaging stories with interesting characters despite some lore decisions that seem a bit off to me. Those lore decisions don't take too much away from the storylines for me though.

The game world itself is gorgeous and I love the fact that it's Tamriel long before any of the mainline games which in many ways allows ZOS to play around with the world a little more.

Combat is fun. I enjoy the mix of action gameplay with the ability bars and love that you can have two different weapons with separate ability bars. The only criticism I have is the emphasis on light attack weaving when it comes to doing your rotation. I can see that it does give the combat a skill ceiling but due to the nature of the game being online and myself living in a rather remote area the combat doesn't always feel very responsive when I'm trying to light attack between using abilities. I wish there was some way to reduce the impact weaving has on your damage, but I don't dislike the idea behind it.

Dungeons are enjoyable and really are some of the best designed dungeons I've personally seen in a game from both a mechanical and technical standpoint. I can't say much about trials as I haven't done any and doubt I ever will considering my more Single player nature. I also can't say much on PvP as I really dislike PvP in games and actively avoid it when I can.

General criticisms are mostly minor things to do with polish with certain quest dialogue etc. The lack of a central auction house and the feeling of it being necessary to join a trading guild to sell your stuff as otherwise there is no way to get rid of it and make decent gold from doing so. Minor things that in the grand scheme of things don't detract from the game as whole.

My main criticism of the game is the somewhat ropey practices when it comes to the Crown Store. This is just personal opinion but I have no problem with an in game shop as long as it doesn't take content away from the game itself. In this case I do think it takes content away from the game. I enjoy collecting in games, always have and the biggest hurdle for me with playing ESO has been the general lack of things to collect outside of sets that I will never use. Yes there are a few things that you can collect in game but the vast majority of pets, mounts, costumes and the like are on the store. The items are also quite often overpriced, I understand they need to make money but I don't think putting all your cool items on the store is fair on people who don't have the money to pay for such things. There are also plenty of items on the store aka dyes that are completely pointless and make no sense as to why they're on there. I really think they need to put more cool mounts and pets into the game itself for people to grind out or earn in some way. I also don't like how they give a false sense of scarcity by only putting things up for a limited time. A mount for example, if earned in game and then removed is cool because you can see that they did that thing when it was current or whatever but a mount that's removed from the store just feels empty cause you didn't earn it.

Overall, I really love this game and what it has to offer but it is dragged down by the way that the store is ran and how it tries to trick us into buying something that they could've easily put into the game as some sort of reward for a hard achievement for example. I have made my peace with this fact as I know things won't change in regards to the store but that won't stop me from criticising something that I think deserves a rework of some sort.
