They have fixed the ui (the update releases 16th of october 2024) and are releasing it with the upcoming event. While some of the new weapons and tools may seem a bit iffy we as a community will help balance it out over time.

Overall I would say the game is in the best state it has ever been barring the two maps we are missing (they're still reworking them, so its not so far off!) and I am extremely excited to see where it goes in the future.

If the negativity surrounding the weird 1896 update had you on the fence I would say now is the time to try it out. See you in the bayou pal

I did enjoy the game quite a bit, and to the devs credit they did a wonderful job with this whole update! The sound, graphics, gunplay, even to small things like sight pictures is all great... minus the UI. Its so bad that I simply do not wish to play anymore.

I shouldn't need to click 3-4 times to exit menus, please let me use ESC to back out of things, everything is now needlessly complicated. Why isn't the primary menu the game lobby? I don't care about the news I want to play the game! Why can't I buy multiples of the same consumable anymore? Why does the menu back out when I -do- buy one? The font looks like something out of a mine craft mod (it simply doesn't fit). They've straight out -removed- convenience features (i.e. being able to hover over things with a currently equipped item to compare stats)

Overall they made this ui change to help console players but even console players are having a rough time learning how to navigate these menus. I can't recommend it to new players in its current state, when the UI is fixed I will likely move my review to a positive one.
