This game, once you get past the performance issues, is great.
The gameplay is fun, the writing is great for star wars (minus one caveat at the end), the characters are likeable and I'd give this game a 9/10 if it wasn't plagued by crashes and the occasional bug. There is one like, insane writing oversight in the last literal 5 minutes of the game but, while that has somewhat influenced my judgement I'm not gonna hold it against the rest of the game. If you think your PC can handle it and enjoyed the first game, get it on sale, play it, enjoy it.
I will be getting the next one when it comes out, provided its playable.

I love Skullgirls a lot, I've been playing since I preordered the first version. Its a fun game that plays well and used to have a lot of heart.
That said, Autumn games is horribly mismanaging the IP.
The current team working on this game seems to hate skullgirls for being what it is: MvC with pin-up girls.
I dont really care much about censorship so long as it isnt destructive towards the character designs, but recently they have made a massive change to Valentine's design (changing her health crosses to just plain boring shuriken), making her design far less interesting and visually appealing. This sets a poor precedent and kinda spits on the work Alex Ahad did to make such iconic characters.
Additionally, given the company lost a defamation lawsuit from Alex after his leaving. Its a shame to say it but as an artist I cant ethically support Autumn games given that they are taking Alex's brainchild and vandalising it for profit. This is like if Arcsys fired Daisuke, then started sterilising the designs of Guilty Gear characters to make them more closely resemble generic Gatcha schlock thats popular..

TLDR; Autumn games no longer has any affiliation with the creators of this IP and is hugely overstepping by changing entire character designs, especially after slandering the artist responsible for it's existence. This company does not care about skullgirls, it cares about profit and thinks they know better than the consumer.

I'm leaving this review cause I think the mass review bombing is unwarranted and turns away people who might be interested in this series.

The game is a great improvement over CLR, the new characters and mechanics all feel great to play and use. Single Player and training mode work fine! In match the Rollback works great, and I have experienced no desync unlike MBTL's launch. The crashes and other networking errors are annoying but the Dev's have made multiple statements about how they are working to solve these issues and have already released 2 patches that have improved stability exponentially. I think some leniency should be given to the Devs as their team is only 14 people, and aren't massive like Bandai Namco (who are getting little backlash for Tekken 8 having many of the same issues). I think in the future French Bread shouldn't neglect having a PC beta to see these issues before launch, but I suspect Sony likely forced their hand on that front.

TLDR;

Game's great, just give the Dev's a week to fix the issues before writing off the game. This series deserves a bigger community.

Though somewhat buggy and in need of some graphical optimization, Hunt: Showdown is a really fun game. the slow reloading and high damage really makes every shot count when you get into a gunfight, and the PvE adds a level of complexity that most BR games just dont have. All in all, I dont think I have played a more fun Battle Royale.
Buy the game. It needs more players.
