The Hunter
The Hunter
The Hunter came to Yharnam as a stranger, drawn by rumors of a miraculous cure hidden in its blood. The city welcomed them with silence and rot. In a dim clinic, a contract was signed, blood was administered, and the world went black.

When the Hunter awoke, the night had begun.

Yharnam was no longer a city of men, but of beasts. Streets echoed with snarls and prayers spoken through clenched teeth. The citizens had lost themselves to the blood they worshiped, and the Hunter was told only one thing: “Go out and kill a few beasts.” There were no answers—only survival.

Each hunt led deeper into the city’s secrets. The Hunter slew monstrous creatures and fellow hunters who had gone mad, all while glimpsing fragments of a truth long buried. The blood that cured disease also twisted the mind. The Church that promised salvation had reached too far, seeking communion with beings beyond the stars—the Great Ones.

Death did not end the Hunter’s journey. Each fall pulled them back into the Hunter’s Dream, a quiet refuge beneath a pale moon, watched over by an old man bound to a wheelchair and a doll that felt almost alive. The Dream offered weapons, guidance, and chains disguised as mercy.

As the night deepened, the Hunter’s eyes opened—truly opened. The world warped. Horrors once unseen revealed themselves clinging to the sky. The Hunt was never about beasts alone; it was about awakening to a cosmic truth humanity was never meant to grasp.

At the end of the night, the Hunter stood before Gehrman, the first hunter, who begged them to rest and forget it all. One path offered peace through ignorance. Another demanded blood and sacrifice. And beyond both lay a fate stranger still.

By consuming the knowledge of the Great Ones and defying the Dream itself, the Hunter cast aside their humanity. When the moon finally broke and the night ended, what remained was no longer human—but something new, small, and eternal.

Thus the Hunt ended, not with salvation, but with transformation.
BLOODBORNE
Bloodborne’s lore is a dark, layered myth about humanity’s obsession with transcendence, told through fragments, symbols, and tragedy rather than direct exposition. At its core, it is a story about forbidden knowledge, corrupted faith, and the cost of evolution.

1. The Old Blood & Yharnam

The city of Yharnam was built around the discovery of a miraculous substance known as the Old Blood, found in the ancient underground ruins of the Pthumerians. This blood had incredible healing properties and could cure almost any disease. Over time, Yharnam came to worship blood itself, making it central to religion, medicine, and identity.

However, the Old Blood was not human. It originated from Great Ones—eldritch cosmic beings whose existence transcends human understanding.

2. The Healing Church & the Scourge of Beasts

The Healing Church rose to power by distributing the Old Blood as medicine. While it healed the body, it slowly corrupted the mind and soul. Prolonged or excessive use caused people to lose their humanity and transform into beasts.

To hide the truth, the Church created hunters to eliminate those who transformed. Publicly, the beasts were blamed on disease. Privately, the Church continued blood experiments, believing the scourge was a necessary step toward evolution.

3. Byrgenwerth & the Search for Insight

Before the Church, there was Byrgenwerth, a scholarly institution led by Master Willem. Willem believed humanity should evolve not through blood, but through Insight—the accumulation of cosmic knowledge. His scholars studied the Great Ones, discovering that humans could ascend mentally rather than physically.

The split between Willem’s philosophy and the Church’s blood-based methods defined the tragedy of Yharnam. Both sought ascension, but neither fully understood the cost.

4. The Great Ones & Cosmic Horror

The Great Ones are godlike beings from higher planes of existence. They are sympathetic in intention but alien in nature. A recurring truth is that every Great One loses its child and seeks a surrogate. Humanity’s experiments repeatedly failed, producing stillborn or monstrous results.

Some Great Ones—such as Ebrietas, Rom, and the Moon Presence—directly influenced Yharnam’s fate, either through manipulation, protection, or imprisonment.

5. The Hunter’s Dream & the Moon Presence

The Hunter’s Dream exists as a pocket reality created by the Moon Presence, a Great One that bound Gehrman, the First Hunter, into eternal servitude. Hunters tied to the Dream cannot truly die and are endlessly recycled to keep the Hunt going.

The Moon Presence feeds on the cycle of bloodshed and prevents humanity from fully awakening, maintaining control through the illusion of mercy and purpose.

6. Insight, Madness, and Truth

As one gains Insight, hidden horrors become visible. Madness is not insanity—it is awareness. The more one understands the universe, the more unbearable reality becomes. What appears sane is often ignorance, and what appears madness is often truth.

7. The End of the Hunt

Bloodborne offers three conclusions:

Submission: Forget the truth and wake up human, ending the nightmare.

Inheritance: Kill Gehrman and replace him, becoming the Dream’s prisoner.

Ascension: Defy the Moon Presence, consume forbidden knowledge, and transcend humanity—becoming a newborn Great One.

Dark Souls III: A Masterpiece Marred by Technical Hurdles
Rating: 9/10

Dark Souls III is a triumphant evolution of the franchise, successfully blending the methodical combat the series is known for with the fluid intensity of Bloodborne. While it stands as a pinnacle of the genre, its current technical state on PC prevents it from achieving a perfect score.

Visuals and Atmosphere
Initial impressions from trailers might suggest a modest graphical leap from Dark Souls II, but experiencing the game firsthand tells a different story. The art direction and fidelity take heavy inspiration from the gothic, atmospheric world of Bloodborne. The updated animations and lighting provide a level of immersion and polish that far surpasses its predecessors, making the world of Lothric feel both haunting and breathtaking.

Gameplay and Mechanics
The gameplay is exceptionally refined. The battle mechanics feel tighter than ever, and I have encountered virtually zero bugs during combat. The difficulty curve is steep, arguably surpassing both DS1 and DS2, with bosses and mini-bosses that are as frustratingly difficult as they are rewarding to defeat.

Technical Performance and Optimization Issues
Despite the stellar content, the PC port suffers from significant optimization flaws that are hard to ignore. Even on high-end rigs capable of running titles like GTA V or Battlefront on ultra settings, Dark Souls III struggles with stability.

The Lighting Bug: Setting the "Lighting" option to anything above Low consistently causes game freezes and system crashes.

Stability: Many players report crashing at the first bonfire or failing to launch the game entirely.

While lowering the Lighting and Motion Blur settings serves as a temporary workaround to stop the crashing, it is disappointing that such a high-caliber title requires users to sacrifice visual quality for basic stability.

Final Verdict
Dark Souls III is a fantastic experience that arguably represents the best the series has to offer. However, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco need to prioritize a stability patch immediately. Once the crashing issues are resolved, this will easily be a 10/10 title.

Review: Elden Ring Nightreign
Elden Ring Nightreign is a thrilling departure from the traditional FromSoftware formula, successfully blending the precision of "Souls-borne" combat with the high-stakes intensity of a Battle Royale. It is an exhilarating, fast-paced experience that breathes new life into the genre.

Gameplay & Mechanics
The most striking feature is the shift in tempo. Unlike the methodical pacing of previous titles, Nightreign leans into a more aggressive, fluid combat style. The integration of competitive multiplayer elements creates a unique hybrid that feels fresh yet familiar to long-time fans.

Boss Design & Visuals
The encounter design remains top-tier. The bosses are a highlight, featuring:

Epic Scale: Visually stunning designs that command attention.

Complex Mechanics: Engaging move sets that make every victory feel earned.

Character Aesthetics: High-quality character modeling that maintains the series' signature dark-fantasy allure.

Difficulty & Accessibility
Be warned: this is not an entry-level title. The learning curve is steep, and the "trial and error" nature of the game means death is frequent. While veteran players will find this rewarding, newcomers to the genre may find the barrier to entry quite high.

Multiplayer Experience
While the game shines brightest when played with a coordinated group of friends, the matchmaking system for random players is functional and enjoyable. However, be prepared for a significant spike in difficulty when playing with "randos," as coordination is key to surviving the more chaotic encounters.

Final Verdict
Pros:

Innovative blend of Souls-like combat and Battle Royale mechanics.

Masterful boss encounters and art direction.

Addictive, high-speed gameplay loop.

Cons:

High barrier to entry for new players.

Limited cosmetic customization (hoping for more outfit variety in future updates).

Recommendation: A must-play for fans of the genre, though best enjoyed with a consistent squad.
