+ Beautiful backgrounds
+ Fluid Gameplay majority of the time
+ Wonderful story filled with emotion

This game continues what Blind Forest started, being a direct sequel. While it changes up how you get your skills, you can still get the ones you need reasonably fast and there is an element of open world exploration, though I think the order is still set in stone for certain objectives.

The game will challenge you as well with the new additions. Some areas test your skill and even remind you that you can do certain things on visuals alone.

Some issues I have, however, is while the game won't handhold you, it could do with a little guidance with certain things with a trade sequence questline in the game, but is overall still a fun game.

Some areas may be rage inducing for the less skilled, but the game should still be overall completable for everyone.

Compared to the first game, this game is a wonderful sequel even with it's changeups compared to the first.
Highly recommend you play it.

It made me cry at the start. (This is good)

Pros:
Beautiful backgrounds
Smooth animations
Will likely make you cry at the start
Beautiful music
Skills are fun to use

♥♥♥♥:
Somewhat short
Some areas may be confusing for new players to the franchise

Game is beautifully made, and with decent difficulty as you progress in. Some of the skills you can get can make some of the platforming cheesed compared to the original iteration, but the game is very fun.

Took me around 10 hours to complete, but could probably be done faster. You can even take your time.

Highly recommend.

This is a cozy little game. It is great for those that enjoy model railroading.

While at the time of this review the game surely isn't perfect and has its issues, I can still say this game was worth the money for me and recommend it.

# Pros
* Cozy feeling
* Easy to get into
* Variety of trains and some rolling stock
* Massive collection of objects to use for decoration
* Visually rewarding once you complete a table
* The career mode is fairly easy
* Exhibition routes make you think (This is a good thing)
* Certain terrain pieces can be painted and the paint job is saved when picking up the piece
* Supports modding and Steam Workshop

# ♥♥♥♥
* Could use some more terrain textures
* Could use with a fake waterfall object to go with below ♥♥♥♥
* Lack of verticality when placing objects
* Unable to place objects on raised flattened terrain
* Placeable objects are stuck to 1 plane of height that can't be altered
* Unable to clip objects into other objects
* Long tunnels are annoying to make
* Can't sculpt terrain very high

# Neutral/Optional/Personal Preferences
* In-game store and inventory UIs could use a slightly better organization system with sub-categories as buttons, separating the massive list of objects available other than just tag
* Small Tasks (Cleaning, Painting, Diorama) are very repetitive but quick to do
* Wouldn't mind unlocking larger rooms to allow for larger table configurations

# Bugs present that annoyed me at the time of the review
* Painting and Diorama Tables would have the camera pan either to or into the Cleaning Station when a small task was completed. Main complaint, but not game breaking (thank fully)
* Some painting tasks skip color sliders as if the sliders are already in place

All in all, my main gripe comes from the lack of freedom in regards to verticality placement and being unable to clip things like rocks into each other, but the game is still very much cozy to play and enjoy, bugs aside.

Warning: Some language, viewer discretion advised. You read at your own risk.

Pros
-Fun gameplay (I wanna say it starts getting good around 30 but could be wrong)
-Useful Crafting
-Impressive story
-Marriage is a thing (LGBT friendly if you care)
-Visually impressive boss fights
-Easy to get into
-Player Housing (Limited plots) (These can be a ♥♥♥♥♥ to get but it's gotten more fair to get recently)
-Guild Housing (Limited plots) (These can be a ♥♥♥♥♥ to get but it's gotten more fair to get recently)

Either Or (Good or bad based on taste)
-PVP (It's instanced based completely, no open world PVP, everyone is level 30 at most in it (You'll get scaled down and your gear doesn't matter in PVP if you're above 30))
-Game store (Has a IRL$$ store, mostly cosmetic stuffs but there are level/story progress skips on sell and mounts (Which require you to have obtained your chocobo anyways first))

♥♥♥♥
-Account creation needs better work
-Requires a subscription for later progression (Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker content onwards.) If you sub, you must be subbed to play. If you cancel, you can't play otherwise unless you're on a free trial specific account
-While impressive, the story content starts out a bit slow and can be a bit lengthy text wise and cutscene wise
-Player Housing (Limited plots) (These were a ♥♥♥♥♥ to get but it's gotten more fair to get recently)
-Guild Housing (Limited plots) (These were a ♥♥♥♥♥ to get but it's gotten more fair to get recently)

Don't let this be the sole source of your decision though as consider this... Final Fantasy 14 has a free trial available that you can download to try the game for free. It allows you to go through all the content of A Realm Reborn and even the award winning expansion Heavensward to let you enjoy all the content for free up to level 60 on all jobs and classes. And did I forget to mention that the free trial has no restrictions on play time? Well it doesn't! Keep in mind there are some restrictions though such as for example being unable to join a guild, using zone chat, etc. So use this review be a stepping stone, but also give the game a shot through the free trial to know for sure.

Also wanna note I'm not tackling all the features here, and I'm not even hitting all the ones I like too like the glamour system as some of these are self explainable in-game. I can't really explain my thoughts on this without going over the review text limit, but keep in mind with some of the stuff there are ups and downs.

Key things to note:
-If you subscribe to the game, you will have to have an active subscription to play it afterwards if you cancel for your account
-You can have every job on one character, can swap to them by simply changing the 'weapon' once you unlock it
-If you like dress up, there's such a system in the game (Works similar to a degree to how transmog in WoW first started)
-If you really enjoy the game you'll lose countless hours like I have and I'm losing countless more as you read.

TL:DR
Yes, play it to kill time and to just enjoy a peaceful gaming session. You're not being forced into any part of the game.

Not going to lie, this was one of those games where I thought "How do people enjoy this?" when I first seen screen shots and gameplay. I still gave it a chance, and then I realized why...

It's a very relaxing game, can do things at your own pace. Easy to learn. If you're going to get this game, I'd say get it for leisure time as it will take a while to do things. There is a time skip feature that becomes available at 19:00 on the clock and is available for a few in-game hours after, but you're not required to use it if you don't want to.

The game also has mod support. Inside it has a built-in mod browser that is connected directly to the official modhub at the dev's main site for the game, and it supports mods that aren't on it. The only difference between the mods you'll find in the in-game browser and those from other sites is the devs have ran QA tests to ensure the mod is working without issues (Most of the time, mod conflicts can still happen) in the game for any found in the mod browser. If you decide to get any mods that are found on 3rd party websites, just keep in mind they might have issues with your game as it's a 'at your own risk' type of deal.

There is multiplayer so you can play with your friends, just keep in mind everyone needs the same mods if you play it modded and if you include any DLC then everyone needs the DLC being used as well.

The game is keyboard and mouse friendly, supports game pads and steering wheels (Sometimes they're a pain to set up though).

So play it? Yes I say give it a go with relaxation in mind.

Now given my first remark about how people find it fun, well you can say the same thing to me with train simulator games found in my game history. I just never had the 'how do people find this fun?' question for those, likely due to how early I got into them. The same principle applies, play it at your own pace for your own enjoyment and for relaxation.

The inserters stole my money out of my wallet, placed it on a belt I couldn't keep up with and another placed it into an assembler that spat out the key at me. Don't think I'll be seeing that stack of money again. Anyone else have this issue? Oh no, there's another one reaching into my pocket for my friends!

In all seriousness though, great time killer, the puzzle solving aspec is dynamic until you have a good setup. If you want a more dynamic puzzle option, restrict your use on construction bots and keep cliffs when possible for max puzzleness. trust me, the payoff of a great working factory with these restrictions is much more satisfying than playing with no cliffs and having an uninterrupted factory.

Oh, and the game has built-in mod support and many mods available catering to your various wants.

It's basically EVE Online Meets Minecraft in simple terms. EVE Online for the persistant universe and the things that can happen like faction territories and such, and Minecraft because of how everything is block-based.

I'd say give it a go.

So as someone that enjoys having idle games/clickers up in the background, this clicker/idle game at the time of this review is extreamly bare bones for a clicker/idle game.

There are two currencies in the game (Which I'm fine with)
  • Cash is the main currency used to get all the click power upgrades and 'character upgrades'.
  • Bombs are the 'premium' currency since you can purchase them directly. You can get them for free however, more below.

Click upgrades are explainable on their own, it's how much you get per click.
The character upgrades are this game's version of all the other 'Currency per second' options many other games have like Cookie Clicker's buildings.

There are upgrades you can buy, but it's either click multiplier upgrades or what look like global multipliers and offline multipliers. These actual upgrades cost the game's 'premium' currency, Bombs. The only issue with these upgrades is that they all cost only bombs, and often a lot of them it would appear.

Pros
  • This game is a clicker/idle game that can be left alone to gather up a lot of cash (In-game cash that is) for click power/character upgrades later on.
  • This game has a stylized presentation with the setting in the form of animated backgrounds within a 3D space.
  • The background changes slightly with each new 'character upgrade' you purchase. For example, early in the game once you buy the Hipster, a hipster litterally appears running into the room. This only affects the first time you purchase a new character upgrade however.

♥♥♥♥
  • This game is very bare bones for a clicker/idle game.
  • There are no multipliers that can be purchased with the in-game cash outside of bombs
  • Bombs can be obtained for free, but the rate of getting them appears to encourage buying them with real world money to me. Currently at time of review, they are slot style rewarded whenever you claim the daily reward which has a 24 hour cooldown. Can be 50, 25, 500, other amounts. This is the only way I've seen to obtain bombs without buying them.
  • All the actual upgrades that aren't character upgrades or click power cost bombs.
  • Character upgrades don't have any multiplier upgrades of their own (You know, like the grandma upgrades for example from Cookie Clicker)
  • There doesn't appear to be any form of prestiege system

So based on what I've seen here, this game is a very bare bones clicker/idle game. Not much depth at all. What you see is litterally everything in the game, minus the backgrounds which become available as you get the better cash per second 'character upgrades'.

Would I recommend this? At the time of this review, no. Perhaps later on if they refine the game better with more upgrades that don't cost bombs and add a prestiege system of sorts. If this is their first clicker, I'm willing to let it slide but still feel it's very bare bones given the choice of other idle/clicker games we have available to us.
