This game is beautiful, the controls are tight, the puzzles are fun, and I love the sense of discovery you have exploring the world. But there's one critical flaw that has made me completely stop playing. Although there is a fast travel system with a secret that makes it better, overall, it's still not good enough. The map is huge, and if I want to go back to a part to revisit it with new items or whatever, you pretty much have to do almost everything all over again because you can't fast travel to the various save points you've accrued while progressing. Basically every single room has some puzzle elements, which makes the backtracking excruciating slow and boring. I've already solved the puzzles, I don't want to do them again and again every time I want to go to a different part of the map.

I'm at a point in the game where I have a new item but not sure what to do next, and it's completely sapped my enthusiasm to figure it out because I really don't want to comb through the entire map all over again and do everything all over a second or even a third + times. Adding the ability to fast travel to the save points you've found seems like such an obvious move and would completely fix my problem.

What a unique, fun experience. Wordle meets old school dungeon crawler meets typing of the dead. Very fun writing & voice acting, I was laughing out loud the whole way.

This might have been the best $11 I've ever spent. If you’re interested in playing a JRPG set in 15th century Slovakia where you play a drunken knight with PTSD from the Kosovo battle with the Turks, who stumbles into investigating occult ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ where the newly found coffee trade is related to eldritch horrors in order to drive out Hussites, then this is the game for you

I inadvertently thought that the game was super glitched out and unplayable because the beginning sequence locks your camera facing forward and you're unable to turn more than like, 15 degrees in either direction. But you're expected to make a 90 degree turn to walk down a hall so you're just not facing where you're walking. This almost single handedly caused me to refund the game because I thought it was just bugged. Very strange decision by the devs.

Game itself is quite good. If you're expecting a huge blockbuster detective game then you may be disappointed, and for the length of the game, the full price you may also be disappointed. I liked it a lot but I'm happy with a sale since it is quite short. There was 1-2 puzzles that I thought were kinda garbo but the rest were good.

I really enjoyed this game. The writing, characters, and cooking stole the show and kept me very captivated. The combat was competent, if not a bit too simplistic but it was fine.

PS, don't make the same mistake I made for trying to get S rank on every skate challenge. It doesn't get you anything, no achievement, no reward, nothing. Most of the challenges were fine, but there were a few that were very frustrating because the "magnetic" pathing of you attaching to the next obstacle really didn't work well sometimes which led to many fails that I really feel weren't my fault. Most of the more difficult challenges I feel were mostly difficult because of jank, not due to a lack of skill. Overall I'd recommend if a skate challenge is a bit frustrating, just skip it - it's not worth trying to push through.

Genuine disappointment compared to the first game. Nonsense plot, choices & character growth don't really matter. Any time the game gains momentum it screeches to a halt with padding & filler.

What a wonderful little game. The music, atmosphere, humour, visual design, level design, it's just so...*cozy* and just made me happy to play and experience. The story, writing and dialogue has made me feel both happy and sad, and made me laugh. Overall just a great game that I'm thoroughly enjoying.

Sometimes I wish it was more difficult, the combat and puzzles are pretty straightforward and not mechanically complex. Coming off of Hades, this definitely feels very..."basic" in comparison, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing - it's just going for something different. It's simple, but it does simple well and it's strengths are by far what I listed above. If you want a hardcore gaming experience this may not be for you.

Edit: I beat the game at around 8.5 hours. I can tell there's definitely a lot of extra secrets that I could go back and explore the world again, so that could probably extend gametime a bit. I won't because my backlog is too big for that. Some may feel like the price doesn't reflect that kind of length, but this game was pretty quality all the way through.

My biggest complaint after looking at the whole thing, is that the bosses. They were cool and had great themes, but usually repeated the exact same 2, maybe 3 attack patterns over and over again which weren't all that difficult to read. The difficulty with them came usually at the extent of how many hits you had to land and sometimes felt very spongy - so sometimes I found myself getting a bit bored because I "got" the boss but had to sit through the same 2-3 attacks for a while before they were beat. I feel like I would have gotten all the bosses on the first attempt, but usually because of how spongy they were I got too greedy and would get punished and die. I wish I would die from having to learn the boss, as opposed to struggle with greed. The visual design and setpiecing of them though I feel makes up for that.

I feel overall after finishing that I can recommend those who want a cozy, zelda like explorative experience with great atmosphere and setpiecing. If you want a gaming challenge, this isn't it.

This game is a blast. The writing is fantastic, the game is fun. It's not very long to 100% but there's so much love in this game that it was just a treat to play and experience. For the price I highly recommend

Updating my review with the release of the itemization update

This game has left early access. If you played this game on release and got disillusioned by it, I would highly recommend giving it another go. The class update, penance update, and now finally itemization update give a very strong, cohesive experience that makes the game fun to play inside & outside of missions.

I have a few niggling issues left with the game, but overall I think it's in quite a good state that's lots of fun to play again.

This is less good Prison Architect, not really a cult simulator.
