The gameplay in garry's mod is fairly simple, it's a sandbox afterall.
Upon launch you can choose from several basic maps that are offered without any modifications. Upon loading said maps you can basically do anything you desire, your imagination is your limit. From massive constructions to hell-on-earth scenario's gmod can really be your backyard.
And it even gets better; Multiplayer. Endless gamemodes are speeding by your eyes, basically from a to z. Not into multiplayer but want to play with friends? No worry, Peer-to-Peer is here for you. It can be enabled before launching a map after you chose the amount of players.

There isn't a bigger cluster of sh*te than gmod's workshop, trust me.
The workshop has stuff from a to z² from highly detailed vehicles to spectacular maps and more! You don't even need to know how to code or anything to post on the workshop: Dupes, saves, that kind of stuff. Ofcourse alot of fandoms are to be expected whenever you add a workshop to a sandbox game, better for some than for others.

Endless, from artworks to mind-breaking constructions or even simple ones to huge scale battles and a bunch of massive gamemodes. It's the true sandbox where you can sink your hours into.

As you can basically do anything in any amount you can expect little fps drops, unless you created literal hell that's worse than Arma 3, if you did congrats cause that's literally impossible.
