The music stays stuck in my head for days after playing.

Even with the struggles in Act 3, this game is peak fantasy RPG.

I own this game 3 times. Vanilla, Royal on PS4, and now Royal on PC.

I don't replay many games that I've already played before. I have for this game. Now even better with mods!

Short, simple, and very addicting. Worth the cheap price for sure!

Honestly I can't say anything about this game that hasn't already been said.

What I can say is that I felt it was worth full price before any of the DLCs came out, now it's even better.

You can ignore Anarchy's Children though. It's very subjective.

EDIT: 10/20/18 Rimworld 1.0 Released!

Rimworld has grown from an excellent proof of concept to an incredibly well polished game with nigh limitless modding potential. It's carved a niche for itself and executes it with as much efficiency as my hat making empire.

Despite playing for over 2 years through development, I find myself coming back over and over to grow my colony and watch Randy burn it to the ground again and again.

If you've ever had a passing interest in Dwarf Fortress and like to simulate war crimes by forcing colonists to eat without a table, this is the game for you.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
How do I describe Rimworld?
Space Western + Dwarf Fortress Lite seems pretty accurate.

Rimworld is a game with boundless potential, and having watched it grow from early Alpha to the giant of a game it is now, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Highly recommend this game.

Synthetic Dawn is a perfect exmaple of a good optional content pack.

Robot portrait variety, playable robot empires with unique civics, new voice pack, new end game crisis, new music, and tons of flavor events.

Worth the price.

I love Stellaris. I've always been fine with the Paradox DLC model. But this is not up to the levels of quality that I expect from Paradox.

So let's break it down.

THE GOOD
-The music. Three new songs to add a bit more variety to the already excellent soundtrack
-The Advisor voices. The new voices add a lot of needed variety, especially for Militarists that don't want to be completely devoted to the god of blood.
-The ships. Less flying bricks, more old Sci-Fi. I still feel that ship designs are held back by the visible gun turrets, but they're still nice.

THE BAD
-The portraits. Not bad at a basic level, but the customization is terrible. Most have little or no changes to genders, only one or two clothing options, one or two hair options, and barely any color palettes. For being the main feature of this DLC, it's horribly lacking.
-Megastructures. They use the Mammilian textures. Disappointing, but not the end of the world.

I wanted to like this set, and for the most part I do. But I can't recommend it for this price. Only buy this if you really want the new advisor voices and ships.

Purchased a few months ago, name is already in the game and ready to use.

I look forward to caputring myself, discovering that I'm a useless sheriff, and then harvesting myself for organs to sell.

I can't stop playing this game. It hits all the right notes in combat, roleplaying, and just being plain fun.

There's no doubt in my mind that this is one of the best RPGs of recent times.

EDIT: It's not something that happens often for me, but despite not having played this game for a while, I find myself craving it more and more. It's a right shame that more games like this don't exist.

EDIT: 2/5/2020
I've come back to the game to play in Coop and it's still just as fun as I remember it. The myriad of workshop mods adding new skills and items keeps things interesting even though I already know the story. Not to mention the Definitive Edition has made some great changes to the last act.

Still highly recommend this game to anyone with a love of RPGs.
