First of all I love this game. Played hundred of hours of it back when I was young and playing it again now has so far been everything I hoped it would be. First I just want to say that I've seen all the other reviews talking about how the game doesnt run on modern machines. My wife did have issues on her AMD machine but we found way around most of it but ultimately couldn't get multiplayer to work. With that said I am running an i-series intel chip and 3070gtx on 64gb of Ram (modern machine) and have had literally 0 issues with anything so far in the game. Not a single bug or glitch. Playing has been absolutely amazing and I intend to play a whole lot more over the coming days. This game has so many features that are ahead of its time and of course the nostalgia is strong with this one. Its $5. I dont know how hard up folks are these days but I can tell you this game is absolutely worth it.

Also for those who have issues running it here are some things you can try.
Put this in the launch options for the game in Properties in Steam: -nocolorkey -sortbyz -nointro -32bit
Also try downloading dgvoodoo2 and put it in the darkstone directory and that fills in for direct X and lets you tweak a bunch of things and I believe can fix the missing textures issue.
Also if none of that works there is a user that created a modified exe that allows the game to support several other resolutions but thats all third party so use at your own risk.
