Add more abilities with multiple purposes or more interactive gameplay so it's not just spam them when they are up. Like the mines on the Phantom class or the burst deflect fireballs thingy on the Marauder.

Also matchmaking. I matched my 3rd real game into level 20+ players who shredded my friends and I.

Can't recommend now, but I have high hopes and can see the potential. Gonna keep my eyes on this one.

Just play frackin universe and it is the best game ever.

Normal Starbound is good, just not great. The progression, bosses and variety is too little for any replay value, and although late game is a pretty fun part, it takes too long to get past the boring start on the same lush world every time. Building is amazing and there are tons of options and furniture. Combat is simple and effective, and some weapon specials make it very deep and exciting (especially in mods). Boss battles need work in base game, and the story takes personality out of the varied and interesting races.

Overall I'd rate base Starbound a 7/10. It's fun and a good time if you like other 2D sandboxes, and you can tell the developers meant well with everything. The execution was poor and the game was rushed.

Workshop mods just make the game infinitely better, make the game last super long and add insane replay value. The bigger ones like Frackin and Ethilian tweak and fix so much of vanilla that it feels like a different game. Big credit to the people who make mods for Starbound, they are actively increasing the value of it.

Frackin Universe is a 10/10. Seriously. Just play Frackin.
