So, might as well just accept your fate and live, work, and die like everyone else. What else are you going to do?

A Heart That Broke Its Own

I write to you, with trembling hand,
A soul laid bare, a grain of sand.
For in my actions, sharp and cold,
I shattered trust, more precious than gold.

I chased the fleeting, lost the true,
A moment's folly stole us two.
The guilt it clings, a heavy chain,
A lesson carved in endless pain.

I can't undo the harm I've done,
The web I wove, the lies begun.
But still, I hope you'll hear me say,
I'm sorry in the deepest way.

Your heart deserved a steadier beat,
Not one that faltered, chose deceit.
And though I failed, I hope you see,
Regret has turned and humbled me.

I wish for you the brightest skies,
For joy to sparkle in your eyes.
No matter what you think of me,
Your happiness is all I plea.
