If you're reading Steam reviews to see if a free-to-play game is worth your time, you are probably not this game's target demographic. However, your kids might be. This game teaches general lessons about money, and emphasizes the need to pick up after yourself.

This is a tough review to write. On the one hand, this is a gorgeous game. The sound design is a delight, and the art style is wonderful. If these qualities were all I had to talk about, then I'd be happy to reccomend it. However, there's a darker side to this game.

Communicating to the player without words is a tough ask. I can absolutely understand that. However, this game could communicate much better than it does. After completing the game, I'm still rather sketchy on what flowers launch you.

Gameplay could be much better. The game has a frustrating habit of taking control of the camera away from the player with little to no warning. I found steering to be quite twitchy with my controller, and quite sluggish with my mouse. The indistinct nature of the player entity doesn't help with that, as locating it after a forced perspective change for a cutscene takes longer than I'm comfortable with. All in all, I don't feel in control when I play this game

The sound design I mentioned earlier? Each element is stellar on its own. However, the sound effects clash with the music at times, muddling the emotional background of the game. In addition, when I first started up the game, I did not have any of these lovely sounds. I had silence, and a wooshing noise when I wasn't moving. I had to run the game as an administrator, which is something most steam users likely don't know how to do.

However, there are things this game does well. The message of the game is crystal clear: let nature into your life, and you'll find a measure of joy and color. Again, I can't fault the art at all. The music is beautiful, and while I wouldn't listen to it on its own, I very much enjoyed it as a backdrop to this calming, atmospheric experience.

Yes, I would recommend you play this game. However, I won't be running for all achievements. Such an sisyphean task is sure to spoil my memory of the game.

While I would recommend this game overall, I can't say that it has no issues. The dialog moves at one speed, with no option to change it. The story doesn't make sense in several spots. Every once in a while, you or an enemy will get stuck. Sometimes objects will obstruct your view of the playing field. The game does not adequately communicate to the player which surfaces can be stood on.

Please don't misunderstand, though. I did enjoy my time in the world of this game. The combat is pretty fun, with very nice twists on the usual formulas. Gathering materials and upgrading your rig takes long enough to be satisfying, but short enough not to be a chore. Alphas provide a fun challenge, and the ability to gather large amounts of resources, but in a chaotic environment. The world is quite lovely to explore.

Again, overall, I would recommend picking this game up, but perhaps wait for a sale.

Yes, this game was terrible at launch. However, I'd like to say that the original vision of this game has been surpassed by a mile, and it is now a true gem of a game. If you're on the fence, grab it. You won't regret picking it up.

There's a lot of 'smooth brain' comments here in the reviews, but I think this game is not as hard to understand as many people assume as soon as they lay eyes on it.

It occurred to me as I was setting up my first Porcupine Queendom that if you try to come at this game in the same way as one plays traditional chess, your brain will run out of computing resources very quickly. Instead, this game welcomes the intuitive approach that fails so many chess beginners. Intimidating as it might seem at first, this game allows a much more engaging experience for users. So, grab a friend and learn how to think 4-dimensionally.

10/10, will Queendom again.

After all this time, I still have no words to describe how awe-inspiring this game it.

With an art style that plays very will with the engine that it uses, an abundance of things to do, and a vast world to explore, Slime Rancher makes for an excellent game.

Looks like a great game. I love the story telling style, or what I've seen of it. However, with my current gaming rig, it simply doesn't run at an acceptable framerate. I like to do my gaming at a minimum of 30fps, and I'm not getting any more than 15, even on the lowest graphics and resolution. What is more, Task Manager is saying that the game does not utilize my graphics card.

Maybe somehwere down the line, I'll play this, and I'm not going to refund. At this time, however, the game is unplayable for me.

4th Wall? What 4th wall?

This game messes with you, and it makes you care. You are pulled into the world of the characters, and you feel for them. If you're looking for a game that is engadging and fun, this one's for you. Just remember, Shift to run. I didn't learn that until about a third through my first runthrough.
