This is how to do EA. This two brother team pushes updates faster than anyboy on EA. The game it's self is an extremely deep star ship and travel simulation with a realistic crew count and every crew member is a RPG character with leveling of stats, jobs, and talents. The world has a storyline that you can follow or not, and there is every space game trope of 'jobs' that you can choose to do. Explore planet surfaces, spy, blockade, patrol, trade, missions for contacts, black market, story missions, star ship battles, star ship boarding, etc...

If you like this kind of game, want to see how EA should be done, and help form the gameplay content, you should buy this game, and help us.

I love this game. If you played Starflight or similar games, you will love this game too. Deep, deep, deep... and arcadey minigames like ship boarding and asteroid variations and a planetary lander and more. Heads up - V-sync ON and Monitor at 60 Mhz, game needs to run at 60 FPS or it too fast to play (FPS tied to refresh rate, and gameplay speed is tied to FPS)

This is a really good tactics game. It works well with mouse and keyboard, or touch, or touch and keyboard. Dont't let that put you off, that it can be played on a tablet, they continue to patch the game and it is very deep. I have it on my laptop with a touch screen and it's works really well with my left hand on the keyboard, but I have mainly played it on my desktop with mouse and keyboard, and I think it actually works better with mouse for me (and I can read the screen easier, there are quite a few UI elements to monitor. The map has many locations that can be unlocked and replayed, and the 'agents' you will find in cryopods in unlocked areas give you the ability to craft the team you want (you can store any unit in a cyrovault, and as long as you grab the body, you can revive any team member if there is a cryopod on the map) There as 80 characters you can choose from, some with very useful special behaviors, and there is a ton of unique and common gear to outfit. I have not played very long into the game, as I put in short spurts and have other things to do, but I can see playing this for a while. Honestly, the missions can be pretty painc inducing, even with tactical paue and helicopter weapons, and when everything goes to hell it's quite something to watch. Hint, just go to main menu from a complete disaster and the mission won't save, but do try to revive team members, they actually get a perk in stats from being revived if I am not mistaken. Anyway, the devs care about them game and patches have been coming pretty regular, and they are reponsive on the forum, so give it a try if you like realtime pausable squad based tactical combat with a deep moral / personality system and helicopter support against an infectious 'Strain' enemy.

Played a little bit, now the game will not start, get the message 'Ivalid Platform' from starting in in steam. Tried to start the program from it's directory, and Windows does not recognize it as a PC app. Tired everything. So unfortunatly I have to say be careful if you have win10 and buy this game, it's possible it will not work. This is the only game I have with this problem, so I think the 'sorry seems to be a windows problem' answer is a crappy answer, they should try to fix it with me. But no. So I do not recommend you buy this game, and I will be very wary of games coming from this team in the future (they should have tried to help me, but 'sorry')


Edit: So this is not the devs fault, I was able to update my WIn10 preview build on my laptop, and the game runs, this gets a tumbs up from what little I have played. Now if only my desktop would not fail to update windows insiders previews (I turned the frequency to the slowest, rc, and am playing on a normal updated win10pro build, so I can play the game on my laptop now too)

If you want a deep RPG with lots of flavor and an excelent combat system, and like viking lore, pick up this game, it's quite good.

Having played a few games and winning one, there is an a ton of depth driving the gameplay, which can seem simple until you get your ass handed to you, and start to play with the command commands and looking at your rivals to understand how religion and culture affect buildings and how you can blockade, sabotage, use the three differnt forms of warfare. I have enjoyed what little time I have put into, it, and using the help mode and tutorial is a must. Also, try playing in 720p if the font bothers you. Really like this game. price is more than fair.

I was given a copy to review:

Quite different and fun... and hard (which is good) There is a lot of skill involved in executing combos and such, and a nice strategic aspect. The battles can get rather large and the overland map is still active so reinforcements can come for either side. This game is really made for controller and controls great when in use. Great developer too.

This is one of the deepest games I own, and I never knew it. I got the expansion (which is a must) played around a bit, but then I read this;

This is a superb title that may confound you at first, but this is a triumph of design, and functionality, once you understand some concepts. I have barely played it, but now that I have the expansion, and read the guide I linked, it all kinda clicked.

I now want to play at, a slow considered pace, liberaly using pause, and reading all the completely useful tool tips, and the Wiki which is build in the game, and the IRC chat, and learn this game. You have to learn it, but all the tools to do so are there.

Buy the game and expansion, read the guide to get you going, study the forum, and challenge yourself to master a great game.

Amazing game. Just outstanding. Visuals, music (can use own music), feel, options (many), are first rate. Fractal graphics driven by music, classic space shooter arcade feel, it is fantastic. I had the first one, bought from the website. I am sure they will add more stuff, the passion is evident, and they have a good track record.

Buy it, even just for the fact that no other game does what this does.

Great game - the new systems and living world are very deep and fun, but you do need to get to at least level 15 before it starts to open up. It is sort of a slow start, but if you hang in there you will find the game very involving. It is much better than the first game, with a modular ship system that can be broken apart and tractor-beamed in battle, and makes for many differnt ship strategies. The 200 hundered independant and factional captains each have many persistant characteristics such as their invetory, relationship, level, threat level, tactics, ship build, etc...

There is some tweaking to do, but it more complete than many released games. There have been 6 patches in a few days after release, I am sure they will support and add to the game in the future, like they did with SPAZ 1.

Note: I bought this from the website when it was released in the eAccess program (about 6 months ago?) I spent about 40 hours in it.

If you want realism, clickable cockpit controls, logical manuver methodologies, orbital mechaincs, in your space game - look no further. Docking manually in this sim feels like the great accomplishment it is. The cockpits remind me of a DCS study sim for a modern combat jet. This has the right to be called a simulation - There are many proceedures and contingences to memorize and perfect, and there is are few 'magic' sci-fi systems - it all seems plausable.

There is not a lot to do yet except run though the tutorials and practice docking, navagation and manuver in a limited system, but seeing the developers progress over the last period prior to Steam EA release, I believe he will deliver a great space sim.
