8.5 / 10

The exploration, leveling, and equipment that the Castlevania series began to home in on, starting with Symphony of the Night, is returned to. I was more than pleasantly surprised to jump into this game. The frequent updates and extra free dlc that has been coming out, as promised and more, continues to draw me back to this game. Good soundtrack and a great variety when it comes to customizing your playthrough, I highly recommend this game. So why did I only rate this game an 8.5? Repetition, grind, and a few particular hidden items can really drag the game down at times. The fast travel does help with backtracking, but it rides a fine line as to whether it is enough. I encountered a single combination that caused the game to crash on me, causing a loss of progress, and though the game is still growing, it def was a concern that needed addressed. Final thoughts, if you are a fan of the classic Castlevania or Metroidvania styles, I think there is something here for you.
