Early Access Review
**EARLY ACCESS REVIEW**

I first purchased this game when it was very first released sometime back in 2013. At the time, I got a little lost, and it seemed laggy, so I quit playing.

Something kept knawing away at the back of my head, though. I had to get back into the game and find my way to another town, to find other players. I saw how many copies of the game had sold, so I knew I would run into someone eventually.

After a few hours of running around in the middle of Chernarus, I found myself in an airbase (now that I understand is Balota airbase). I ran into survivors that didn't KoS me (great first impression, yes.)

We befriended each other, and locked down the airstrip and waited for more survivors to show up. We recruited a new survivor here and there, and arrested the occasional soul and fed him alcohol tincture and disinfectant spray in a scientific attempt to understand what these items properties and affects really were.

From time to time my motley crew of men would have to pop a cap in a bandit on sight. I swear he was reaching for a knife.

After a few weeks, and having no luck finding a server during the early alpha that had regular server population, we decided to brand our group, and we called ourselves the Band of Hawk. I petitioned for donations, and within 2 days had over $300 worth of donations from only about the 10 of our community members at the time. I set up a 100 slot mumble server, and yes, a 50 slot DayZ Standalone server.

The Band of Hawk server, after lots of advertising, community recruiting and a promise to keep hackers (to the best of our ability) off our property, we skyrocketed to the top 10 servers worldwide on gametracker.com.

Our community has since dispersed, but I want to attest that this game is one of the single best MMOFPS masterpieces ever created... and this review is based off of an experience starting from the first day of early access alpha in 2013.

DayZ Standalone is like a fine wine. You will acquire a taste for it. Give it a chance. It's worth more than whatever price tag they can put on it.

You will make many everlasting friendships, and some of the most brooding rivals of any game you will ever play.

99/100.

The Band of Hawk will be locking down Balota once more in late 2015.

See you in Chernarus.

Yours truly,

Kaplan
