By far one of my favourite games!

I've been playing Arma since the good ol' OFP series and have truly enjoyed each new addition to the Armaverse. That being said, the game, and series, are not without its faults. Luckily the faults are often overshadowed by the large modding community which, in my opinion, is one of the best communities out there.
Kudos to the devs for creating a game that encourages modding. If it's not in the game yet, you can be almost certain, that someone will mod it in.

If you like milsim, or just want to upgrade to something more tactical and realistic than the COD or BF-series, well give Arma a try.
Initially the game might seem confusing, but with the introduction of Bootcamp, new players are guided through the basics of the game, and get a chance to test their skills, before taking on the full Arma experience.

A lot of players play the games single player campaign before embarking on what truly makes Arma great, the multiplayer experience. You'll find a large number of Arma groups, all looking for new members, and no matter what you prefer, be it Marines, Special Forces or Insurgents, there's bound to be a group for you too.

Some of the drawbacks about Arma 3 is, that it's set in a not to distant future, and thus the developers have chosen to "futurefy" the units and vehicles. Some like it, some don't. In previous installations of Arma, the conflict areas somewhat resembled ongoing conflict areas in the real world, whereas in A3 the conflict initially takes place in the Mediterranean, and covers a conflict between CSAT (Iran and others) and NATO.
The island of Altis does look great though, and offers plenty of space for combined warfare. If anything it lacks a bit of forest.

One of the higlights of the game, to me, is the editor. Anyone who's played with LEGO as a child will love the editor. It gives you the chance to create your own missions, and the possibilities seem endless, from the easy and short missions, to the vastly complex ones that require a good amount of scripting. Arma has it all!
Plus, with Eden coming along, the editor is about to get even more awesome. A full featured 3D editor, so no more guessing if you've placed the units at the correct spot, or if they're facing the right window etc., Eden delivers big time improvements over the "classic" 2D editor.

Now I could go on for ages with this review, but essentially here are my thoughts on the game, if you're thinking of buying it.

Buy it:
- If you like to play in a more tactical manner than COD/BF
- If you like being a part of a massive community, where something new is always being modded in
- If you can live with some of the small errors and restrictions by the game-engine, and realizing that the game is under constant development
- If you like large scale combined warfare
- If you have ever played with LEGO, and enjoy creating stuff
- If you're looking to get into an Arma group, and enjoying the MP community
- If you want a game that you can play for ages

Don't buy it:
- If you think it's anything like COD/BF/CS:GO
- If you think you will learn the game in 30 minutes
- If you can't live with AI that sometimes is retarded
- If you have a low spec PC (Arma is horrendously optimized, as of yet, and your FPS WILL drop)
