MMMMMM ignore my current playtime on Steam. I've finished this game twice on PS1 (back in 2000), 100%ing it on my 2nd playthrough. Finished it a few times on Vita, and I most recently finished the HD version last year on Switch. I'd argue that the Switch version might be best, it fits a smaller screen best for sure and there's a bit of grind required to obtain skills and magic upgrades. Finally getting around to playing it through on Steam so I can max out the achievements for it!

So... To this day, after the hundreds upon hundreds of games I've played, this is STILL my favourite game. It's difficult to put into words what makes this so special... The battle system, dungeon crawling, level progression and combat flow hold up so incredibly well and is still one of the best in a JRPG. The game just oozes with charm, from the detail and variety in every area, to the orchestral score. It's a rare PS1 JRPG that actually has English voice acting, some would consider it bad but honestly there's just so much heart in the delivery that I think it's actually perfect. There are a few scenes that still make me tear up. The whole game has heart.

It's all just so...... nice, and I don't think there will ever be anything quite like this again :')
