Disaster management simulator. This game, once you understand what your heroes and the enemies they're up against are capable of, is actually very easy, the difficulty stemming from your ability to "make the most out of a bad situation". You receive three to four crits in a row, fail a couple of traps or scouting or speed checks, Bloodsuckers show up out of nowhere and give half your team the curse. It's not a bad loop, but I don't think the developers did it very well overall and I'd recommend you go elsewhere unless "Disaster management simulator" is the exact thing you want. You build a Hamlet which feels safe and secure, build up a roster of characters you either love or don't care the slightest bit about, and decide how much money you're willing to spend before subjecting your preparations to the whims of RNG and your ability to mitigate it. Overall the balancing is pretty poor, without speed mods the game takes forever, and even with mods you'll be grinding for a long time. There are better places to invest your energy, IMO, the biggest example being Slay the Spire if you want gameplay depth

This mod has improved while cooking in Early Access, my previous review was quite critical (yet appreciative) but now I am certain that this is something worthy of play if you liked the deep tactics of DD1. Has flaws still, plenty, but it's on an upward turn.

This DLC is balanced so well that it's crazy to think that it came from Red Hook Studios. It has a meta, with some clearly dominant (Flag, MAA, Abom, Arb) and some clearly useless (Plague Doctor, Hellion) characters, but almost every character has a place and it's a highly diverse meta. I cannot advocate for this DLC enough, its only true detriments are the ladder which queues you up against whoever else is online rather than someone from your own League, and the gated trinket "Prestige" system which forces you to play without the most important equipment for a few hours. Be aware that this DLC is an entirely new meta that will require at least a double digit number of hours invested to navigate, but IMO it's more worth it than most other competitive games today. It's free, benefits your campaign file by healing your first week's stress (although that stupid pop up in the bottom left is annoying), and when played with friends, is super accessible.

Absolutely no reason to bother with this game, especially considering Battles 2 has been teased

This game (series) very desperately relies on bombarding you with garbage evidence/anecdotes all at once to cover up the fact that the murders are very, very easy to solve. Instead of having different students arrive at the trial room with their own evidence, or hold multiple trials for one case (a la Ace Attorney) it gives you absolutely every single thing there is to consider about the case.

This means, that so long as you're thinking ahead and not paying credence to the useless chatter of the character roster, you will be spending HOURS wading through their trash because you already know 90% if not 100% of what happened. It is remarkably terrible, considering how much praise this series gets.

Fine enough. Definitely wait for a sale, far too expensive for what you get if you'd like to get a party of friends playing.

Yeah, it's good. Even if it gave me brainrot.
