Actually really love this game. A really good BR that ppl aren't playing.

I really really want to play this, but for some reason it's causing a Clock Watchdog Timeout bluescreen to occur and I just can't play it. Really bums me out. I'll come back and edit my review 100% if I can figure it out. I don't bluescreen while playing anything else, (and I play way more graphically intense games that demand much more of my system than this) so I'm confused. I'll leave comments open just in case someone knows what's happening.

The negative reviews are akin to boomers and their outrage over TikTok and their dAtA-mY pRiVaCy! ahhurr~. If you think that your "data/privacy" isn't messed with when it comes to Google, Apple, Android, Windows, Facebook, Twitch, X, Insta, etc. you're delusional af. The game doesn't ask for your "ID and social" either like I see some absurd reviews claim. I played the last demo/beta before this and had so much fun. I was actually bummed as hell when it was over and couldn't wait for full release. This is a breath of fresh air to the genre and the devs are responsive to community feedback. There's no P2W, but being as how the game is free there's a battle-pass if you'd like, and cosmetics ofc. There were 21 million pre-orders, the game is massively populated and it's day 1 so it's not without some growing pains/crashing issues, but if this isn't your first day on the internet you understand that. The game itself is so much fun, and I would completely ignore the review bombing bc it's absolutely not warranted. 10/10 I highly recommend this game.

If you truly love looter shooters, you'll like this game. A lot of ppl I see saying "this is repetitive, it's getting boring" I feel like the same can be said for any looter shooter really. Like Borderlands, after a time you're going to feel that repetitive vibe but it just kind of feels paced like any looter shooter imo. That's just how that genre goes. I enjoy this game, the animations and combat are satisfying and the world is fun to explore bc of the traversing.

The other negative I see ppl saying is complaints about it's non-canon behavior (I'm not going to spoil anything) but if you're going into this story with the mindset of "well this isn't canon" you're going to have a bad time. If you keep your mind open and take this games story and happenings for its own then there's nothing to complain about.

I'm only 10 hours in but I'll edit my review if something changes my mind. As I feel now I would recommend this game.

Edit: There's literally a quest titled "That's Not Canon"...yall are whining about something that's the way it's supposed to be....

I wish I could leave a 'maybe' or 'meh' as a review. If you're a seasoned MMORPG player I think you're gunna find yourself bored with combat, healing, PvP, and PvE content pretty quickly. If you're a first timer in the genre I think this is a decent place to start. Amazon made it really easy for anyone to pick up and play. I don't recommend it for certain people (seasoned MMORPG's players), and on the other hand I recommend it for certain people (first timers, or people who want something simple and easy). It's really buggy still, and the automated ban system is still being abused, and it was actually lied about to the player base. They claimed it was not automated and was indeed reviewed by people, players proved that to be false by their own means, you can read about it on reddit. I don't think the volume of people available at launch is a good indicator of success, people who play this genre are literally starved for new releases, we've had nothing for a long time, and when you're starved you'll eat anything. So it's a no for me personally, but there's a certain base that could enjoy it. Just super super mediocre, very much boomer vibes.

This game has tons of content and lots of hidden objectives/quests throughout. I love the co-op feature that was recently added, and there's a new 1.4 update coming soon, said to have tons of new content. There's a huge modding community that's active and supportive, as well as lots of helpful info for new players on Youtube, and open Discords. For a super chill really interesting experience, give it try for sure. Overwhelmingly Positive reviews for a reason <3

Edit: The game is ruined now, don't even bother....shame. Below is my original review that I want to leave up so people know what the game was, before it ended up being what it is now.

Definitely the best MMORPG I have ever played. Entirely devoid of your average generic "go pick this plant, kill 10 of these mobs, and escort this snail paced sissy lala to his moms house" type quests...the missions are incredibly intelligent, immersive, like a good book you can't put down, and have a Lovecraftian atmosphere. If you want to put your brain on auto-pilot and mindlessly hack and slash mobs, then this is not the game for you...you HAVE to use your brain.

You can be any role on one character, because you can learn all of the skills, unlock all of the weapons, and get all of the gear, all on the same character. Weapons range from wolverine like fist claws, to assault rifles and different melee, range, and magical types. Reading the passive skills, and learning what weapons/skills/talismans to use in different situations is the key to your survival...you'll do a lot of learning from mistakes, that's for sure.

This game also has one of THE most helpful communities I have ever experienced on any game, and I have made a lot of good friends here. My wishlist is forever stocked with special Collector Editions, Issues, and other DLC for the game, as I have fallen in love, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who thinks it sounds interesting. Also a game that is best played with a friend, and I also recommend joining a cabal (guilds in game) If you do join, I'm on the Arcadia server, I'm a Templar (one of three factions) and my IGN is Jennory, I'll help you with any questions you may have :D

This really is the best MMO I have ever played. I was on Tera before it came to Steam, and yes I can use my existing account (I saw someone below say they could not...so okay lolz) Also saw someone leave a negative review because their AVG was blocking the game...easy fix, set yourself into "Gaming mode" or "Allow access" for Tera...(AVG is horrible anyhow) BUT back to the game. The reason why you see now bad reviews below about the GAME PLAY itself, is because....there's really nothing bad to be said. I've played this for a long time, and I have 9 characters on my account, all different classes (Including the new Gunner) so this is coming from an experienced long-time player, and all solely my opinion of course.

If you're joining and seeing the "Gunner" class everywhere? This is not an everyday occurence, this is a new class debut...and it's like that with every new class release. Tera engages in TRUE action combat. Tera's action relies on your skill as a player, not sheer luck. If you don't pay attention, you die. If you aren't actively evading or blocking, you're getting slammed. Enemies can do the same, so you have to be tactful. Tera's action combat is really like no other. Aiming, timing and skills all matter for your survival, and you have complete control. It really is the best combat system I've ever come across in an MMO.

I've played games that make you pay, and aren't half as good as Tera. New content is released often, and there's tons of ways to make your character a real reflection of you. So many awesome dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, as well as PVP opportunities, and lots of different classes and races to choose from. There's lots of events, and the holidays are a blast.

There is NO pay to win here, you can pay for convienence, but pay to win, no. You really have nothing to lose, the game is free :D And it's by far my most favorite. The first time I played was well over a year ago, and the content creators always manage to find a way to keep you attracted. I DEFINITELY strongly recommend this to anyone, rather you be an MMO pro, or brand new to the genre, you're garunteed to have a good time.

10/10 would get called a Pedo for playing Elin race again.
