Burn the boats
The flame that burns twice as bright, burns half as long

Upon gazing into the night sky -the ever darkening night sky- the realization that we humans are puny and insignificant on the cosmic scale leaves most in a state of despair.
I on the other hand acknowledge that our presence on this planet is the result of 14 billion years of cosmic evolution - a thermodynamic miracle. We are the waking universe looking back upon itself in glory and awe.
We must realize that we are more than just an evolutionary byproduct of the cosmos and its contents, we were born to love and compassion; that the cold and cruel indifference of the universe is nothing compared to the unbreakable bond that is the human spirit.
