A somewhat generic f2p shooter with solid gameplay and a well-executed gimmick. Monetization is definitely aggressive (9 currencies and gacha mechanics, yikes), the game could use faster movement, and unlocking new lancers is slow, but otherwise the game is fun and could do with a few more positive reviews.

> TLDR at the bottom. <

I've only played so much of the game, but I've noticed there are no reviews and figured I'd be the first. This is a review of my personal experience, and what you get from the game may be different.

Parse-O-Rhythm is a simple, yet deceptively challenging rhythm game that seems to be a mix of osu! and the more traditional scrolling rhythm game's most of us are familiar with. While the game has no lanes, "errors" (the notes of the game) scroll from the top of the screen to the bottom, where you time an input along a line after moving your character below it. There are two inputs, one for positive errors and another for negative errors. This makes the game have a surprising amount of difficulty while also giving off crazy dopamine if you hit a complicated combo perfectly.

The soundtrack of the game is AMAZING. All of the artists are either friends of the developer or smaller artists hired by the dev(s? I'm not sure if I refer to them as one person or as a team, it's a similar situation to Ultrakill). each section of the game has it's own unique artist with their own style and music which leads to a wide variety of chart difficulty, speed, and music.

From what I can tell, there is no community-driven content through either the workshop or built-in, which is incredibly unfortunate and limits the amount of content that can be enjoyed from the game. I'm not sure if this is planned but I hope this is something that changes in the future as the community grows.

There's also a lack of controller support. This isn't as much of a negative as no community creation tools, but I can see huge potential in gyro support for the game.

The dev(s) seem to be taking feedback well and interact with the community incredibly frequently over on the Discord server. There's also a sense of humor and not a lot of super strict professionalism over there, it's just people trying to make a good game :)

TLDR: A fun yet simple rhythm game with a surprising amount of challenge and an absolutely amazing soundtrack. Some seemingly core features (community content and controller support) are missing but the dev(s?) are incredibly responsive and seem to be taking feedback seriously. All in all, the game may not be worth the $10 price tag, but is absolutely worth the cost when on sale, especially considering the funds go back into growing and improving the game over time.

I really hope to see this game succeed in the long run, even with the rough start. I'm glad I could be here on day one (even though it may actually be day two, just pretend it's day one)
