New review: Now that the game has some positive changes in regards to servers, I do see a potential for this being a really awesome game. The missions are a little repetitive, crashes do still occur, and the main 'orders' do not always track progress but this game can become so much more.

Hoping to look back on this review 6 months from now and continue to feel happy about my purchase.

Avorion has been quite the surprise. I stumbled across this gem while browsing through the store. The store page and the photos advertised by the developer really made me question whether it would be worth the $12 price at the time (being 50% off), but after some quick youtube searches, I decided to take the plunge. Of the past dozen games I have purchased, this is the first to really grab my attention. Having barely just entered the spiral of the galaxy, my journey is far from over. My fleet of now 4 ships is slowly making its way towards the center of the galaxy. Although my art skills are not the greatest, if the aesthetics is something you want then the workshop is the place to go. The editor is not to difficult to use but I am quite lazy. Even though I have yet to import ship designs from the workshop, I assume it will be useful to do so later on when cosmetics may be more important to me.

Overall, this is now one of my favorite games in my library. I've been wanting a game which just allowed me to be creative while I carve my own path. Games like Kenshi offered similar experiences but Avorion feels far more polished with multiplayer support. Science fiction and space also makes this game an easy plus to me! I would definitely pay full price for this game!

Give it a go! Perhaps we can play together

As someone who loves Idle games for the phone, I found Melvor Idle to be a refreshing take on the genre. For the most part I play on PC but the game is easily played across multiple devices with a functioning cloud-save system.

The game reminds me of some of my favorite anime's of the dungeon quester running out to the dungeon daily to grind with always the chance of him not returning (perma death in the adventure mode).

Some things I wish were a little different but overall the game is well worth the price. I would pay up to $20 for this game easily.

If you have time to burn, give this a try.

I received a copy of this game for free from a friend on Steam. The novel approach of allowing users to interact with ingame elements through voice is what sells this game. You are a band of ghost hunters who are given a set of objectives to complete a job that the previous team couldn't. If you fail, you die. With every completed job you increase your wealth which is in turn used to buy more advanced tools for ghost hunting. Once a player reaches lvl 20 they are capable of playing the most advanced ghost hunting missions where payout is 10x that of the beginner level missions. Presently there are 6 maps with some being a small simple house, and others being full scale prisons.

VR is supported by this game and that is a major selling point for some, but as I possess a modest potato of a PC I cannot attest to the value of the VR content..

Overall the game is very fun to play with friends (up to three on a given mission). The community is very kind (but very strange). There is some discrimination against those who do not own microphones, so as a fair warning to those looking at purchasing a copy: buy a microphone for the game.

Enjoy!

A very interesting simulator to add to anyones library. Due to its MMO characteristics, there is protracted attention given to the game that may create week long feuds with strangers or friends that you meet. Experimenting with all the features has been time consuming but entertaining to the say the least. While I do enjoy the complexities of developing ones society, I moreso favor the evolution and progress of my nation as time passes. Starting from humble and relatively equal beginnings, you can tell how your ruling style compares to other in the immediate community.

As for the game, I have had very few issues with playing or connecting to servers. Due to desync I may have to exit and relaunch the game to witness orders update, with units moving to the desired location or completing a given task. There are ways to play absolutely outside of war, or you can carve out portions of the world. Any 'Pay' feature is by design restricted to an X number of uses per simulation, so it prevents heavy spenders from impacting the experience of all players. Each map is unique to my understanding, with at least 20 players.

Overall I enjoy the game on Steam and there are Apps for phone-play, but in the current state of the IOS version it is not recommended as a stand-alone play method. Every 30 days the worlds are reset and the game begins once again. It is free but in its current state I would be willing to pay $20. There is not much content on youtube though, in regards to play-styles or various tutorials on very specific points... That is something I hope a larger community may change for the better.

You have nothing to lose, it is free. Give it a try!

This game is truly special! I have not enjoyed a game this much since Total War Attila came out years ago! Building has to be my favorite part as it is not only quite custom, but actually very difficult to do. The entire game itself can be very difficult, down to just maintaining your food supply while ensuring monsters aren't breaching the walls. Multiplayer was shockingly good, but I have read reports of desync occurring server wide--going off of the ping of the weakest connection, therefore making everyone lag. I personally have not had this issue so it should not impact most people I assume. After 40hrs I have only barely defeated 2 of the 6 bosses, still haven't explored my starter island, and just recently learned how to properly build a roof! I try to learn as much as I can personally, rather than turning to a tutorial, which I think makes this so enjoyable. If you do NOT like grinding, then you won't enjoy this game. Grinding; building; fighting; viking; and adventures!

This game stands out in my library for several reasons:
+ It is FREE TO PLAY with the 'pay' features being cosmetics for the most part
+ Ability to replay is insane
- Every class has 200 perks to choose from with no real set build (odds are you will never meet someone with the same gear and perks
- Developers release new game events that require new characters to participate in (which is pretty awesome even though someone who has never played may think that sounds dumb). When these events end, the character you used in the event is rolled over to the standard server
+ The game is quite difficult, especially about 10-15 hours into a character on a standard server OR even just minutes into a character who is on a hardcore server
+ Multiplayer is pretty fun, the game is primary setup for COOP play, but there is the ability to duel players
+ The community is very active and fairly kind: plenty of free gear or individuals willing to sell premium gear

Overall I love this game in its current state. The performance issues seem to have improved in the past 6 months and the processing power needed to run this game well cannot be too much, given my rig is 7-8 yrs old and I'm doing just fine. Its FTP, so you really have nothing to lose. Just beware that when you play with friends, they may grow envious when you find that great spell combo and perk setup :)

Great game to play with friends. Nice area outside of the 'digs' to relax and hang out in. The actual gameplay isn't too crazy. Rarely will you ever find yourself screaming as spiders flood over the hills and no ammo left... but typically you are safe with common sense gameplay.

Not really an in-depth review, but check gameplay videos online, I definitely would suggest buying this game even at full price. More than worth it.

Multiplayer is a lobby simulator 90% of the time. Of the 10% of the games that actually do begin, roughly only half of those games last more than 3 hours. In rare cases games will last 12+ hours with full groups of 30 players in voice chat coordinating. The community can be toxic but that is rarely the case. Most who play are grown men with families. Hacking is also rare.

If you have a group of friends to play with, the mods can be fun. Games with roughly 5-9 people tend to be the best. Most mods on the workshop today are ahistorical but in all honesty, the game is not that historical to begin with. It is not game breaking to not own all DLC. I personally dislike some of the dlc as it unbalances the game.

Singleplayer is also fun. Roughly half my hours are on singleplayer, especially in Mods. This game is a great way to kill time and unwind. In college I used to play this while doing homework on the side, and drinking a beer too. It can be as attention demanding as you want it to be.

So obviously I would rate this game as being worth the price. If you can, snag it on a sale since saving money is always nice (the game can be found for as cheap as $10 on a sale).

It is very CPU heavy and even if you have a massive rig, the game engine has limitations that will eventually lag any PC if the wars get too insane. Once the world wars kick off it will take hours to progress years, where before it took maybe 20 minutes to progress a single year.

The learning curve really is not that steep for this game. If you spend about 2 hours watching guides on YouTube, odds are you can give your friend a run for his money if he underestimates you. There are those who are just not good at Grand Strategy, so if that is you there is also Coop mode, where you share a country with another player or group of players. The AI definitely has its limitations against veterans of the game, but for beginners they will be challenging.

If you have further questions comment below but in 2020, I would definitely advise any lover of WW2 or the strategy genre, to buy this game and give it a try. You can always refund your purchase after the first few hours if you do not enjoy the game.

Best & Stay safe,
J
