This story sets a new standard of terrible for an established AAA game. Most characters are portrayed in an annoying way, even if you didn't mind them in BL2 (Tiny Tina is the least annoying character here). I can imagine a 14 year old girl writing explicitly sexual fan fiction with less cringe and terrible plot than what we got here.
The gameplay has is ups and downs compared to BL2, but is overall worse in my opinion. Some UI stuff is terrible (selling and buying especially), vehicles are still burning paper on wheels and there is no clear step up for any actual mechanics. Weapons are a mixed bag, with gimmicks taking priority over functionality or balance. You will find weapons outclassing loot 15 levels higher and (legendary) weapons that are basicly unfit for killing anything.
The loot gained from vaults can and will be outclassed by the occasional grab inside an outdoors toilet, which represents a good metaphor somehow I'm sure. The only loot being four regular chests inside those vaults make sure of that.

To give you an idea just HOW terrible a story we are talking here (mild spoilers):
The Big Bad is a pair of e-girls (including the male siren) with an army of simps at their disposal, trying to kill you for half the game before you figure out you should maybe potentially do something about that.
Lilith is universally revered as a superhero at any (forced) opportunity (with fitting cinematography and everything), while being even more useless than ever before (which is a pretty high bar at BL2s end). She loses her powers from being unable to flee, a feat that Phase Walk is made for, and loses a plot device in the process.
From this point on you will get to visit every character you hoped to never see again from previous pandorian adventures, while being introduced to characters you will most likely care even less about, or annoy you in new ways that you didn't consciously knew existed.
When there is an opportunity in the story to be really cringe or you take the dumbest turn, it will probably exceed your worst expectations.
Oh, and everyone will become a siren at some point in this story. Also, Siren are wizards now, with lasers and ♥♥♥♥.
