As a long-time fan of the Dragon Age series, someone who has played all the games, read every book, and devoured the comics, I’ve experienced the ups and downs of this franchise firsthand. There were always things I liked more, things I liked less, but nothing — absolutely nothing — has disappointed me like Dragon Age Veilguard. This game doesn’t feel like Dragon Age at all. The name and familiar faces may be there, but even those feel like hollow echoes of the characters I once loved.

After roughly 30 hours of gameplay, I find myself bored. If anything, Veilguard has only succeeded in making me want to go back and replay Dragon Age Origins, Awakening, and even Dragon Age II. On its own, Veilguard is an okay fantasy RPG, but not much more. The writing is so inconsistent and scattered that it yanks me out of the immersion every ten minutes. The combat, especially on higher difficulties, is the only thing that really shines here — that, and conversations with Solas, which feature the only genuinely good writing in the game. Everything else swings between being boring and outright cringe-worthy.

I’ll finish Veilguard, but I already know I’ll be replaying Dragon Age Origins after. And I’ll likely never touch this game again. I’d only recommend it to the most die-hard Dragon Age fans, those who are desperate for some form of closure. Just be warned — it might leave you more unsatisfied than anything else. Honestly, I almost wish this game hadn’t come out at all, because for me, this is the killing blow for Dragon Age.

The game still has some bugs, but damn this is a really tight competitor for my favourite CRPG of all time. Freaking love it

The main improvements are in ME1, but they are quite impressive. The first game plays better than ever. ME2 and ME3 basically have a couple quality of life improvements and HD mods installed. For those that played the games, nothing much is new, but the experience is still amazing and now also in 4k. However if you never played the ME franchise... Well, now you have to.

(Small tip for ME1: LEAVE THE CITADEL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, it can be overwhelming, do the side quests there later).

I personally did not encounter many bugs in the game. However, within the last 3 hours of the game I have encountered a crash, that repeated itself 4 more times.

Other than that, the games has quite a few rough edges: no customisation for the character, weapons or vehicles. Bare-minimum crafting. Broken police AI and system. And a somewhat lacklustre world interaction.

HOWEVER, despite all these things I still freaking love the game. The story and characters are absolutely phenomenal. My first play through was as a sneaky hacker and I have never felt like a more certified badass than in this game.

If you have a high-end PC, and are capable of looking over the rough edges, you will discover a masterpiece of game. Otherwise, maybe wait for a couple of months until the game is actually ready and buy it.

Played on GOG mainly.

Got tired of Hearthstone and tried Gwent just for the sake of it. Never turned HS back on. Freaking love this game

I am quite torn on this one. While I loved the story, the characters, and the setting, the game is just too short and limited in replayability to be worth the price. Your choices pretty much don't affect anything, and there are no multiple endings. If you are an absolutely huge VtMB fan, then I would buy it, I enjoyed it a lot. That being said, everyone else should get it with a good discount.
