Alright, first off i'm going to preface this by saying a large majority of my time spent on this game was through the Microsoft version so my overall time in the game is closer to 1200-1500 hours. With that said Steam feels like a better place to praise this game.

Sea of Thieves remains one of the only modern titles I struggle to find complaints about. Sure, now and again you find some sweaty crew that really pisses you off but such is life when you're a pirate. The vast majority of the time spent in this stunning game is enjoyable and I've made many a friend over this title. My biggest praise for this game is it's balance. Every single thing you can unlock in this game is cosmetic, no weapons or ships that give you an edge. The only thing separating a new player from a pirate legend is experience which makes the game very appealing in terms of balance. Additionally the cosmetics you can unlock are rarely exclusive. While some come and go never to be seen again others end up locked behind an achievement or purchase price after their initial run which makes that grind feel much more in your control since it's not a race to grab em' all or never see them again. Twitch drops for the game also bring a variety of items for free to your various cosmetic chests while introducing you to some of the most helpful pirates around. In terms of content the game was at a breakneck pace of a new content drop MONTHLY for it's early years. This however was swapped into seasons which are usually 3 month periods with larger content drops and events throughout. The point I'm making is theres always something new to get up to which leaves on very rare occasion without some new quest to take or thing to do. Rare very clearly loves this title and are passionate about keeping it an adventure to behold for anyone who boots it up. For $50 this is probably the best value you'll find in a game and I struggle not to hold this as my favorite title for playing with friends.

If by chance you're fortunate enough to find this game on sale, pick it up right away and encourage a couple friends to do the same. You will not regret that choice. So happy tides and fair winds to all the new pirates to be met in 2023!
