its not a game, dont expect it to be one.
controls are very efficient and work well with the building style of the game, If you want mouse building its there too.
Probably has the greatest range for building anything out of any sandbox sim I have ever played, aside from physics driven engines.
Has a system for making things look exactly how you want it to despite block restraints, so if you are like me then you should be able to make any design you want it to with enough work.

Another thing people don't understand going in is that controlling your ship from first person isn't a focus, the real focus is making all your ships/planes/etc move on their own using built in AI or the other in-game systems.
