So it's time to update this review. And ultimately I don't know what I'm shocked that this expansion would be trying to force players in a game where there is now an expansion based on a very divisive series, an expansion that literally is just a copypasta of the last two. This is not development, this is sheer laziness and all STO has become now is a blatant cashgrab, joining the list now of things marketing Discovery, as there's a part 2 and 3 on the roadmap. The fact that they're lazily developing this game and are very willing to make a 3 part expansion on a series that time and again, both here on Steam and their own forums, has been met with fan outcry. The game is a ghost town now as a result of those cries falling on deaf ears.

Now, to be clear, I don't hate DSC. I don't like it, I think it could have been better right out of the gate as they took an addditional year and a half in production, but I don't hate it. What I DO hate is the fact that its very existence is appearing to in the end servien as a destructive force to Star Trek as a franchise as a whole, something that again, the devs have SEEN, even RESPONDED TO, on their forums time and again as they built up to this, and they STILL did not only pushed this part, which I can get, they had been developing this for some time and couldn't just scrap it, but very recently announced a 2nd and 3rd part. This whole situation clearly is showing that CBS is pulling their strings and is holding their wallet now, though, so I don't blame Cryptic. I fear that this game is inevitably going to go the way of the series and MMO Defiance now as a result, and likely take the Star Trek franchse right with it.

What am I saying? Ultimately, this Trekkie...has had enough of this game. This game is getting worse with every expansion, and at this point, now that they're using reskinned content from previous expansions and are content enough to push that out as a finished product, I'm positive at this point that regardless of what they do...this game is going to permanently have a rating from me of Not Recommended as they continue to seemingly do what they can to destroy the game one week after another and continue to drive more and more players away from this game, all to market something that really, for this game, canonically does not fit. I grew up with Star Trek, I am a diehard Trek fan, always have and always will. And I cannot continue to endure this torture that is this game, one that has become a stand for those wishing to discuss politics and not play the game, instead of a positive commuity of Trek fans playing a game where they can play as a Starfleet, Romulan, Klingon, or Jem'Hadar captain in the franchise they hold most dear.
