P is for Pinocchio: A Playfully Perfidious Puppet’s Pursuit of Perfection

Perchance, permit me a moment to pontificate upon a peculiar performance, a paradox of plagiarism and prowess, a plaything of profound potential yet patently pilfered particulars. Lies of P, a parable of puppetry and pretense, parades itself as an unparalleled pinnacle of the souls-like pantheon, and yet, one must ponder—when doth a mere imitation transcend its template to become a prodigious piece of artistry all its own?

Permit me, patient player, to be perfectly plain: Lies of P is not a souls-like, it is a souls-clone, a precise, practiced, and painstakingly produced pastiche of that which came before. And yet, I protest not! For what it purloins, it polishes; what it plagiarizes, it perfects. The perils of this performance are perilously familiar—soul-shaped currency, elixirs of endurance, ethereal allies arriving in one’s most pressing predicaments—all presented with poised proficiency. The Legion Arm, a most peculiar permutation of prosthetic power, permits a playstyle poised between premeditated precision and pyrotechnic pandemonium, echoing the arsenal of a devilishly dashing demon hunter.

The presentation, I profess, is positively pristine. The city of Krat, a paradise of perilous passageways and prodigious pallor, pulsates with the presence of a past long perished, an era of elegance now eclipsed by its own encroaching end. Yet herein lies a pitfall: though picturesque, the pathways permit little passage beyond their prescribed perimeter. Gone are the perplexing passages of yore, the precarious precipices that plummet into the unknown; instead, one finds oneself propelled ever forward, a pawn in a play where the path is perpetually paved.

And what of the plot? A pale pretense, a paper-thin plaything, penned with passable purpose yet performed with pitiful passion. The parlance of its players is more comedic than compelling, a pantomime of emotional profundity that, in practice, provokes perplexed amusement rather than poignant reflection. One cannot be perturbed by that which one cannot perceive as pertinent.

But—pray—do not presume this to be a proclamation of pessimism! For while it plunders the past, this peculiar puppet show still possesses the power to provoke pleasure. If the proposition of punishing parries and perilous pursuits of perilous prey pleases thee, then partake, for despite its palpable pilfering, its pulse is potent, its promise persuasive, and its playability positively pristine.

Perhaps, in the end, originality is a privilege, not a prerequisite.

Little Nightmares – A Beautiful but Frustrating Experience

The atmosphere is undoubtedly the strongest aspect of Little Nightmares, with its eerie visuals and unsettling tone creating a truly immersive experience. However, beyond the aesthetics, the game struggles to justify its price tag of 20 euros, especially given its short length—completable in under four hours. This equates to a rather steep cost per hour of gameplay, with little to no replayability to make up for it.

The gameplay itself feels clunky, with imprecise controls and awkward movement mechanics that can make progression frustrating rather than engaging. The fixed camera angles often obstruct important pathways, leading to unnecessary trial and error. Additionally, the checkpoint system is poorly implemented, making certain sections feel tedious rather than challenging.

For those looking for a compelling puzzle-platformer with a dark atmosphere, Limbo or Inside offer a far more refined and rewarding experience. While Little Nightmares has its merits in terms of aesthetics, its gameplay limitations make it a difficult recommendation at full price.

Last Epoch is an exceptional game that undoubtedly surpasses Diablo in every facet. Its engaging and fast-paced gameplay, robust mechanics, diverse character classes, and impressive graphics make it a standout experience. However, the game is also marred by an aggressive microtransaction system, with a cosmetics shop icon intrusively placed right next to the player's interface. Furthermore, there are concerning issues related to privacy, with the game allegedly accessing and extracting data from users' computers – a significant concern for anyone mindful of their digital footprint(not an inferior kids). Additionally, the game's community can be off-putting, often described as cringe-worthy and predominantly kids, which might detract from the overall enjoyment for some players. Despite these drawbacks, Last Epoch still manages to secure a 7/10 rating for its solid core gameplay and visual appeal, albeit with notable reservations.
