So cute & fun!

I love the monster designs. Monster types interact in interesting ways (eg. a lighting attack will melt a ground/sand monster into glass, a new type for the battle).

The quality of life in having a monster you're catching always survive on 1 HP is phenomenal. Being able to switch in & out the attacks of monsters freely and without loss is also greatly appreciated.

Coming back for my third play-through of Pyre and felt it deserved to get a review. I obviously love it. I become so attached to the characters and the music gets stuck in my head.

As for the game play itself, its 'Rites" (matches) are quick action with some strategic planning before hand. As characters are used they can progress their skill tree, and losing an individual rite is not a game over. The story continues no matter what, though you could reload and try a rite again if you really want to. Your pool of characters grows, and shrinks, as the story goes on giving you a varied and personal experience made by how you are playing.

Cannot recommend pyre enough, my favorite Supergiant games, and one of my favorite games period.

I got the game in the 2023 Jingle Jam.

I can't believe one* person made this game. It was great fun and I was still gasping about the absurd things that happen through to the end. I hope the Dev gets the help and support they need for a sequel.

* Shout out to Stan for whatever that code transposition was.

I was worried about the game being a port but it runs well. Very happy to be able to play persona on my pc now.

The measuring tools are very helpful for ranges, and I cannot express to you the euphoric joy I feel waggling my piece along the board going do-doo-dodo.

The controls are a little difficult, but you get use to them after a bit. (I think i just repressed how bad the controls were from the original).

The game play is fun, I love the spell variety. Being able to choose the spells you take brings fun customization.

The style is quaint and overall I'm feeling vary nostalgic playing this.

I'm excited for the remaining spell books to drop.

Xcom 2 has the same enjoyable combat and necessity for strategy as Enemy Unknown. However, new pressures and risks keep the game experience fresh and exciting.
