10 reasons why New Vegas story sucks:

1. Amnesia Trope: The Courier's amnesia is a lazy narrative device that robs the character of any agency or meaningful connection to the story.

2. Generic Western Plot: The whole "revenge for a bullet in the head" plot is unoriginal and predictable. We've seen this a million times before.

3. Shallow Factions: The NCR, Legion, and Mr. House are all one-dimensional caricatures of real-world political ideologies. There's no nuance or depth to their motivations.

4. Boring Side Quests: Most side quests are fetch quests or repetitive errands that don't contribute anything meaningful to the main story.

5. Predictable Twists: The "twists" in the story are painfully obvious. It's easy to see where the narrative is going from a mile away.

6. Underdeveloped Characters: Aside from a few companions, most characters are forgettable and lack any real personality or depth.

7. Forced Choices: The ending choices are arbitrary and don't feel like they have any real impact on the world. It's all just window dressing.

8. Anticlimactic Ending: No matter which faction you choose, the ending feels rushed and unsatisfying. It's like the writers ran out of ideas.

9. Lack of Emotional Impact: The story fails to evoke any real emotions. There are no moments of genuine sadness, joy, or excitement. It's all just bland and forgettable.

10. Pretentious Writing: The dialogue is filled with clunky exposition and forced attempts at philosophical depth. It's trying too hard to be clever and ends up being cringeworthy.

The story is overrated and doesn't hold a candle to other Fallout games like Fallout 2 or even Fallout 4. The writers clearly didn't care about the story and just threw together a bunch of random ideas without any cohesive vision.

You can keep your morally gray wasteland and boring politics. Fallout 3 might not be perfect, but at least it has heart. The main quest is literally about finding your Dad. That's a million times more relatable than some convoluted revenge plot against a guy you barely remember.

Fallout 3 has something it desperately lacks: soul.

The Courier doesn't remember the events leading up to the attempted delivery of the Platinum Chip. The gunshot to the head caused the localized loss of memory due to the head trauma sustained. The Courier is able to recall other past events and information, but with Benny and the Platinum chip? Nope. I know the writer says the Courier doesn't have Amnesia, but he clearly does by all the inconsistent dialogue choices. It's simply bad writing.

The courier doesn't have amnesia. He just doesn't know who the guy that shot him in the head was. Why would he?
