I am a Christian and Bible student, and I use this account to gladly share the Good News of God's Kingdom, as commanded by Jesus (Matthew 28:19,20).

What Bible translation is reliable?
You can use most translations without worry. Comparing verses in various translations of the Bible is a tried technique of obtaining the best understanding of the inspired text. Yet, The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures features approachable and true-to-source language, with extensive footnotes and cross-verses for better understanding. It restores God's holy name throughout [יהוה / YHWH], with the pronunciation* used for centuries - Jehovah. You can obtain a free physical copy, or access this Bible online. I happily recommend it. *The original pronunciation of God's name isn't known. The Bible itself hints, through words and names containing God's name, such as Jonathan (Yohnatan, or longer form Yehonatan) and Elijah (Eliyahu), that it was Yehovah.

You're also invited to attend Christian meetings at Kingdom Halls of Jehovah's Witnesses, which primarily serve examining Bible wisdom and learning how we can apply it in our lives, as well as encouraging one another (begins and ends with a song and a prayer). There, you will recognize true disciples of Christ by how they "have love among themselves" (John 13:35), and use their powers of reason and discernment to answer important questions and understand the Bible's message (Romans 12:1; Hebrews 5:13,14). There are no collections (Matthew 10:8) and no pressure for anything whatsoever apart from respecting others (compare Galatians 6:5; 1 Peter 3:15).

Truth and wisdom — where?
The idea that Earth floats in space became accepted after Isaac Newton popularized it in the XVII century. But thousands of years earlier, the Bible clearly stated the Earth is "suspended upon nothing". (Job 26:7) Newton himself once said: “I find more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history whatsoever.” (Two Apologies, by R. Watson, London, 1820, p. 57)

Do (real) Christians believe the Earth is flat? No, because even the Bible itself says: "There is One who dwells above the circle (or "sphere") of the earth" (Isaiah 40:22).

Both of these succinct but remarkable truths were recorded way back before our era, when people believed things which we today identify with the Middle Ages — for example, that darkness at night is a dark vapor, released from the earth at sunset.

[The idea that a "flat earth theory" was prevalent in the Middle Ages has been a myth. See Russell, Jeffrey Burton (1991), Inventing the Flat Earth: Columbus and Modern Historians, New York: Praeger, pp. 37–45, ISBN 978-0275939564].


As modern science and archaeology continue to show, the Bible is completely accurate and reliable.

The Bible has been widely appreciated as moral guideline and spiritual help. There are dozens of case stories that prove applying its principles leads to decreased anxiety, healthy family life, outstanding work ethic and genuine happiness, among other benefits. It has transformed addicts, criminals and even murderers into respected members of their societies, and continues to help anyone, anywhere, from all cultures and backgrounds. It provides satisfying answers to a multitude of important questions, including "What's the meaning of life?" and "What happens when we die?" .

The Bible's message without fail proves to be the universal, priceless guide to life — so why not give it a try?

However, “[There is one] faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their [spiritual] food at the proper time.” —Mt 24:45; 25:14-30

I have faith there is one “God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” (Eph 4:6) But yes, certainly, there are people who do good in any faith. “They are the very ones who demonstrate the matter of the law to be written in their hearts, while their conscience is bearing witness with them, and by their own thoughts they are being accused or even excused.” (Ro 2:15)

In any case, the court didn't give an absolute divorce, as Mrs. Russel sought. However, the article you're referring to seems opinionated, including its sources. Myself, I did refer to articles made by the Watchtower. By contrast, however, Jehovah's Witnesses are well known and praised for their integrity, honesty and solidity. (It's enough to look up "Jehovah's Witnesses during World War 2" to see they have these qualities). There have been many people that fabricate accusations and distort the truths Jehovah's Witnesses really preach and stand by. (1 Tim. 6:20,21; Col. 2:8; 2 Pet. 2:3) Their contradictory accusations are but one "rotten fruit" that exposes their illicit motives and falsehood. (Proverbs 6: 17-19; 19:5).
