If you are a fan of 4x games, and didn't play Galactic Civilization 2, then Galactic Civilization 3 is probably worth the money. If you have played Gal Civ 2, then I don't think there is anything in the sequel that justifies a $40 price tag. It's graphically updated, but the core mechanics and interface are remarkably unchanged.
