Early Access Review
I was fortunate enough to be involved in early beta testing for this game, and have been hooked from the moment the demo landed. As a fan of the card game in the previous entry, Anode Heart, I was overjoyed to see the card game get a standalone title. And to be clear, that's exactly what this is: It is an expansion of the card mechanics in Anode Heart.

So, first thing to say upfront, I absolutely adore the game. I have personally played likely over 100 PVP matches with the community, and had a blast both winning and losing. I've thoroughly enjoyed every shift and discovery in the meta, collecting all of the cards in the game and putting together decks that play in fun and unique ways.

However, at the time of writing, I would like to warn the reader there isn't a ton of single player content. Or rather, there is, collecting all the cards and making fun decks can carry you well beyond 20 or so hours depending on how much you like deckbuilding, but the main story content and the NPCs themselves won't give you too much of a challenge, nor is there an overwhelming amount of them. (There is, however, a major moment in the game where you unlock something that makes every single NPC in the game a new challenge, which was absolutely amazing.) So if you're the type that just wants to run straight through a game, do the bare minimum to beat the bosses and get the you win screen at the end, I'd very much recommend you hold off until after the game is either close to done or out of EA.

If you, like me, enjoy putting together unique decks and playing against your friends (Or even just perfecting them for play against the NPCs, sometimes chasing perfection is all the motivation you need.), then I would say this title is very much for you.

EDIT: Proper steam multiplayer has come out, and the game is easily worth more than double the asking price now.

So, if you're on the fence, I fully recommend you play the demo. If you like what you see in the demo and the things I've mentioned aren't dealbreakers for you, I can wholeheartedly recommend the game. If you do pick it up, I'll be hoping you cook up something special and come destroy me in PVP. If you see my name on the list, don't hesitate.
